Replacing openvr.dll with repair on steam didn’t do anything for me.
looks like we go fed up with this thread before the issue was addressed. So it’s off the first page.
I think most VR people have given up and just moved on to a different game.
@nicka117This... Last thing I tried was getting my old Oculus Rift CV1 from my attic. I was hoping that was a better experience (Quest 2 isn't the best solution). But the good old Rift had the same issues. I'm not even going to put more time in this game.
@r_droopy yeah, I haven't even turned on the game since July. When there is an update, I just stop by to see if the head tracking has been fixed. Someone then confirms it has not. Then I forget about it for awhile. My own fault for pre-ordering. Another codemasters lesson learned, but also a new very important lesson: DO NOT ever trust what the Youtube content creators say about the game when they get the pre-release versions.

- @TonaZ i gave up on this game a while ago, about 400 replies into this thread and after waiting patiently for a while.
i got a 4090 and i'd thought i'd try.
still, stutters, jitters. this is ridiculous. i am even using OpenComposite and OpenXR toolkit with upscaling which should increase frames, and foveated rendering, and a stencil mesh that is extremely restrictive (again to raise FPS)
i wonder what DLSS 3.0 will do but i have no idea if it will work in VR, it would have to be activated without frame generation to avoid latency
i remember a small few here who said how it worked wonderfully in their 3090 Ti's. Do you work for EA?
I'm already an iRacing convert. It's extremely cool, not least because it's such a good simulator. I encourage you guys to think carefully next time you spend money on a motorsport game. - @Stampede_251 to clarify , even if DLSS 3.0 works in VR, can be used without frame generation (which introduces latency), and finally produces something that can hit fps above refresh rate for a good headset, this is STILL not proper VR support because you should't have this hardware to make it work at all, you should be able to reduce settings reasonably, see the fricking road and other cars instead of a pixel soup, and get high enough fps to play, even if its below headset refresh rate.
- @Stampede_251 I’m not a EA employee but I made some changes and runs fine now. If you have a 30-40 RTX card thats more than needed to make it run good in VR.
- @billionSniper don't be silly. any framerate that doesn't produce stutter looks like absolute trash. this is not "run good".
Soooo...
Haven't gotten any updates, how is the VR nowadays?
Didn't touch the title in moths
- @Stampede_251 Not true.
I’ll post my ingame settings later. It still needs work from EA but I think it’s playable now. Not horrrible. it is equally trash, sadly. stutters even with 4090
@billionSniperthat's really fascinating. what do you think will happen when people like me, with the 4090, or with "30-40 RTX cards" like you say, try your or any possible settings, and still get the stuttery, nausea inducing mess that has been unfixed since launch?
the game is poorly implemented. it should not stutter in FPS under refresh rate. Additionally, any settings producing fps above headset refresh rate (say 90hz for reverb G2) makes the game look like a pixel soup. your posts are ridiculous, but please continue to post misleading information- @Stampede_251 I don’t see how my post are misleading since they represent the reality of my setup.
I hope you’re alright?
I also hope that people get the experience they bought into, like I do. And hopefully EA will fix whatever it is they need, in order for us not to have to do all sorts of alternate solutions for it to work tolerably. Have a nice day. - @billionSniper i'm not alright i want my 60 euros back! oh and if you buy a 4090 and tweak to get above headset refresh rate, it wont matter because even with non-stuttering smooth FPS (where visual quality is precarious) the god forsaken head tracking is wonky, like it's lagged and doesn't correspond to your head movement, causing , again, NAUSEA.
To any angels of light and weird sinister EA apologists, have you not tried any other VR titles? What are we doing here? - @Stampede_251 EA you haven't addressed this in months, do you not care at all? You may have bought the rights to F1 but F1 doesn't belong to you - you have a RESPONSIBILITY to honor and protect this intellectual property, for example, by building a solid sim. Right now you're treating it like you got a license to make a version of angry birds. Be better
@Stampede_251 I get your frustration mate, believe me. It shouldn't be acceptable that we're still trying get them to fix the VR implementation, but here we are. I've given up on it now and moved on - I won't be buying next year.
@Worthy82 thx for the encouraging words. hey are taking the new players from the new wave of popularity of F1 and funneling them to iracing, arguably those with more gaming related disposable income. At least one guy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. PS iRacing has F1 too
Since they refuse to fix this issue, this needs to be bumped to the top.
- @Stampede_251 30 card here and with out a doubt playable, I have described in the past what needs to be done. But let me guess your using the Quest.
- @57c8f68321dc240f There is no fix, no matter what HMD you're using.
@57c8f68321dc240fthis is hilarious, no. I use the reverb g2. 13600KF, rtx 4090, 64GB ram. stutters if under refresh rate, and independently from that, always has massive headtracking lag (even when above refresh rate, perhaps even more apparently so) which makes everything weird and nausea inducing. the headtracking lag is of course not present in other games. are you new to VR?
thanks for your opinion alphanumeric name. btw what are you doing in tech issues forum if it works for you?Since they refuse to fix it, we'll just keep bumping this one to the top.

Im with you :D
I have been trying for weeks to fix this same issue, jarring VR while in the car. I have Oculus 2 on an i9 with an RTX 3070. I have tried everything I can find on forums, editing xml, re-installing, changing oculus settings. ACC, project cars 2, Squadrons all work perfectly.
I'm just commenting to add my name to the list and hopefully one day check back to find a fix.
