Steering Wheel and Pedal Connection Bug STILL PRESENT

Dear Developers at EA/Codemasters,

First off, I love playing the F1 games. I'm an F1 fanatic and love racing sims. This game has been a blast and also incredibly frustrating. To the credit of you guys, it's fun enough for me to continue playing despite the game crashing bugs I experience. However, I would have put a lot more time in already if the game crashing bugs weren't occurring every time I play.

Hardware:

System: PC

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080ti 12gb Ftw3
  • CPU: Intel 12900K
  • Monitor: 2560x1080 21:9

Wheel Base: Simagic Alpha Mini

  • Wheel: GT4
  • Connection: USB directly to PC

Pedals: Thrustmaster T-LCM

  • Connection: USB directly to PC

Controller Binding:

  • Saving over the simagic_m10.xml worked to bind the simagic alpha mini steering wheel.
  • The same save also allowed the thrustmeaster t-lcm pedals to bind.
  • Before the last patch (or the one before that?) I was not able to bind both the pedals and the wheels but this was resolved after the patch.

Bug Description:

Bug Context:

There are a few different ways it plays out so it may not be a single bug but each outcome seems to be related to or results in steering wheel and/or pedals connection issues.

Frequency

  • Occasionally I can make it through an entire practice/race using the temporary fixes below but often times the game freezing ends up crashing the game altogether and I lose any progress I made.
  • Most of the scenarios occur 3 or 4 times per practice session/race

Bug(s)

  • Audio and Video Freeze - always leads to (or caused by?) one of more of the following
  • Wheel stops working while on track (no controller disconnection popup) - sometimes occurs without freezing but most of the time includes freezing
  • Pedals stop working while on track (no controller disconnection popup) - sometimes occurs without freezing but most of the time includes freezing
  • Game crashes - after freezing (1 crash in every 4ish freezes)
  • ***Scenarios almost always involve freezing and one or both the wheel and pedals not working

Temporary Fixes

  • Temporary Fix (if Audio and Video Freeze) - wait a minute and sometimes it will unfreeze but at that point either the wheel or the pedals are not longer controlling the car (no controller disconnection popup)
  • Temporary Fix (if wheel stops controlling the car) - unplug the wheel POWER and plug it back in (sometimes it seems like the pedals stop working after the wheel starts working again)
  • Temporary Fix (if pedals stop controlling the car) - unplug pedal USB and plug it back in (sometimes it seems like the wheel stops working after the pedals start working again)

I currently am playing on a monitor but I continue to quit playing early due to frustration after a few rounds of the bugs. Hopefully a game crashing bug like this is serious enough to warrant investigating but if not, if there is anything I can do to make it less painful for myself in the meantime I am all ears.

Thanks,

EA customer

  • Also having this issue. I have a T300 and TLCM Pedals plugged in via USB. Pedals and Wheel work  perfectly together however on occasion when tabbing out the game doesnt recognise the pedals and I'm yet to find a fix other than restarting the game. Seems to occur randomly and its incredibly frustrating.

The exact same issue here. TS-PC servo and TLCM connected via USB. Fully updated drivers and firmware, I’ve uninstalled F1 fully including all folders and reg keys, same with TM software. Yet everything I play my wheels can disconnect and the only way to get them back is restarting the game.

it does seem more present when tabbing out, I’ve had it when not tabbing out but pausing under safety car, but I should be allowed to tab out without having to worry about this issue. You can’t just simply reply the pedals otherwise the game crashes.

    anyone found a solution?
