Yes, very nice addition indeed. 👍 I am not that much into time trials, but that was enough to lure me back into the game 😀 I finished all Tiers in season Pass and was waiting for the next one, but that was a welcome surprise. Cool do so some Laps in a 2023er car in the official game even before the season started.

Nevetheless, I hope for another Patch with some fixes of our major painpoints prior the next Pass.

Just to clarify this update point:

    • Addition of the 2023 Alfa Romeo F1 Team C43 for use in Time Trial game mode

---This is not just a livery but the actual car itself????

---And if so bodes a new approach to how the new game is delivered under EA sports ownership.

---I hope this means the 2023 game will be delivered sooner rather than later!

This really adds value to the game and should entice more people to by the game annually if this new feature is something they can look to annually!

---- NICE INDEED and thanks for listening to my suggestion on this request!

@Trendyon I think it’s been stated quite clearly that it’s the car, although IDK how they have the performance or the design. It is quick that the livery has been signed off, normally this takes ages and they are pre season until the performance patches I think.

So forgive me if I’m dubious on their statement, but the statement is quite clear.

Maybe it means it is not the old Sauber skinned. But it could be the team car, I’m sure the engine and bodywork scrutineers in the community will put things under.

The Alfa Romeo C43 is the result of a one-time marketing partnership between Alfa and EA. It is not just the new livery slapped on the C42 (2022 car), it's the new car's 3D model + livery. And the new steering wheel the team is running this year, we have Bottas to thanks for that 💟

It is definitely not the true C43 performance and most definitely not F1 23 new handling model. Those with the game may look into it and perhaps confirm some changes to performance parameters like drag or power, but I wouldn't bet anything on that.

It is not a preview of the F1 23 game though. It's a marketing campaign on the same vein we've seen before with Red Bull, Ferrari, Audi etc., with the addition of the 3D model.

@SteveJacksonThanks for the confirmation guys. As they say, the proof is in the driving, and from the haptics and performance compared to last year's car, this is the real thing for sure. Also, I'm hoping that as testing draws to an end the car can be updated with the lasted performance gains captured during testing. Also, I hope this become a regular feature of the game going forward - and perhaps with different teams- as is this can be additional showtime and appreciation for some of the smaller teams in F1.  And not to toot my own horn, but I'm sure I requested this feature somewhere in the recent past. Great move by EA Sports this!

@mariohomohPerhaps EA Sports could consider making variable performance parameters table driven going forward, if this isn't already done, I mean. So that during testing on day one, Alfa Romeo can pass performance data to EA Sports and with a quick table update, render that data available to the game IRT without an actual release update. I'm just saying.

@Trendyon As far as I know, even though Greco and the guys have a good relationship with a couple of teams, Codemasters don't ever get official numbers and data from them beyond what the specialized press has access to.

If they did, that data would be opaque instead of being readily available to anyone with the game on PC and the Windows Notepad app. This sort of nondisclosable confidential data would most definitely be protected or encrypted somehow - like other titles do with the data entrusted to them by manufacturers and racing teams.

And even if they come upon real, trusty data, there's still the huge task of matching it to the game engine. Greco does a stellar job, but the franchise is far from putting out such a realistic physics simulation that simply refreshing a table with real engine power, downforce points etc would result in high fidelity gameplay.

Drag, temps, load sensitivity, variable coefficients of friction...

Mind you, I'm confident F1 23 will be a better game. But I strongly suggest not getting ahead of yourself and reading too much into it. This is a marketing stunt. New 3D model with new livery to hype the community over the Alfa Romeo 2023 debut, and that's it.
This is good, and I'm hopeful for more neat DLC like this one or the ones I mentioned above, but it does not address any of the real issues haunting the franchise.

@mariohomohThanks for the lengthy response. But it would have been nifty if they could add to the performance of the in-game C43 after pre testing wrapped up or after each race until the game is released. In any event, having a new car in time trial mode until the new game is released allows gamers to keep up with competitive time trial mode and real time qualifying events - a nice bridge to F1 2023 imo!

@mariohomohActually flash screens in the game seem to prove you wrong, where one flash screen said “The Alpha Romeo F1 Team 2023 C43 car is here” and the next “ Updates from the factory are in” - the latter indicates that EA Sports do have the ability to update the cars performance from factory data without recompiling a new build! Nice Codemasters, nice indeed! They should continue with these performance updates until the new game is released, adding play value to the old game.

@Trendyon That's just flavor text, mate. Reasons being the ones we've discussed before.
We could also hammer in a "Updates from the factory are in" whenever Jenny posts a new patch notes thread. Points in vibe and atmosphere, zero consequences.

New 3D model, new livery. Some guys on the art department got the task, shipped to the support team and they packed it up on a nice patch for F1 22.
This is literally the busiest stage in the pipeline for the performance team as they need to crunch data so that the handling guys can revise the new handling model and the AI team can carry on with the AI training. It is unrealistic to expect the performance guys to double their work for one car on the soon to be deprecated game. Again, this is NOT just changing a "EnginePowerGP2 = 960" to "EnginePowerGP1_new = 970" and be done with it specially when you've got a game with new parameters for physics and performance being worked on with all hands on deck.

Alfa paid for a marketing stunt, the art team put it together, and that's it.

    @Ultrasonic_77

Steam PC version also states 1.19.

Also, does podium pass get refreshed every month now? It used to be 8 weeks and there are still 8 tabs in VIP challenges.

What, people were earning too many pit coins so they didn't need to purchase them?

@jenny_a_m  I’m sorry this is not on..  There are a number of items in the vip podium pass I’ve already unlocked from the previous  vip podium pass.  If I’m to buy the vip podium pass its asking me to pay for the same thing twice.  This happened in the last podium pass but not to this level!!!

vio pass  4 glitch livery.  9 digitalis glove 13 horn badge 14 digitalis suit  19 constellation livery 22 topographic suit  24 for me emote

    @ScarDuck14

yes, you're right. one or two items could be forgiven.

But having multiple items re-used just because they thought not many players achieved 20+ level on VIP is a bit too much.

This is a dirty tactics to force players to purchase pit coins for additional stuff.

It looks like people ignore F1 Life, they rely on VIP to get extra stuff and merchandisers are not hitting their targets. But it's not our fault so there is no reason to punish us for it.

@ScarDuck14 It's not like EA Sports are posting propaganda on the flash screens! A recent flash screens says to the effect that F1 2023 is coming soon. So like the groundhog, I anticipate an early spring release for the game, not early summer as last year. Going forward I'm sure as a bigger company with deeper pockets, we'll see EA Sports make an effort at earlier release dates. We're seeing the benefits of this merger to a more qualitative game overall. I can't wait to see the physics improvements in F1 2023! Yeah!

@P4st3l1akI was hoping they would drop the price of the content package to 50% during Black Friday, but that didn't happen and I still think paying $20 USD for the pace car it too steep!

    Spotted following issues:

    * Quali programme - I couldn't make it even to green during 3 attempts, ended up with the best time +0.8s over target but interestingly, I was awarded purple achievement. How?!?

    * Wet race in Zandvoort: started on Full Wets with all AI drivers. Ten laps in, rain eased, Jeff said Interns and Wets are same, so I pitted for Interns. AI stayed on Wets even I was lapping a second faster than rest of grid. They pitted during SC seven laps later, also for Interns. Rain stopped, track dried slowly. Jeff reported it's crossover for dry in Weather Report about 8 laps to go. I pitted for Mediums, came back 10th and started lapping 2secs faster than top dog. I ended up winning the race with Haas (sixth car in list) because AI drivers didn't get the message and stuck with Interns till end of race.

That definitely looks like a bug that game doesn't let any AI driver to risk or pit when human player shows faster pace on different tyre.

    * Found another cheat AI drivers use 😉

Race in Spa, MT with top car: 8 laps to go, 1st place, Medium tyres, rest of grid on Hards. I notice car behind me closing in. I made the fastest lap, AI drops to 2.1s behind me. Next lap, I am +0.2sec off my fastest (i.e. previous lap), AI behind closes to 0.7sec behind me. He made up ~1.4seconds but fastest lap was still assigned to me! 😉
