No message at all! My screen flickers green and I get the shutdown noise through my series X. My controller stays on as it is flashing to try to connect to the console. Then as I power my console back on it turns on as if nothing happened.
Never had that message pop up it just switches off and then I have to restart it
No but one person suggested that the random shut downs could be due to 120hz video mode on the console. I have tested that yesterday and switched to 60hz whilst playing Grid Legends and I had a healthy 4 hour session without my console randomly switching off. I also play with a friend of mine who does play at 60hz on Xbox Series X and he had no random shut downs at all. So, it seems very likely that when playing 120hz the console is overheating and then just switches off as a pre-cautionary measure in place.
And regarding the picture you posted no not getting anything like that. For now, I'm gonna play at 60hz and see if the issue is for sure gone.

This is great info, thanks.
As a workaround for now then, please disable 120hz mode wherever possible. This needs to be done in the Xbox's settings page and an in-game toggle for this may be added in the future:- Navigate to the Settings app on your Xbox.
- Choose the Display & sound tab
- Select the Video output tile.
- Open the Refresh rate drop-down menu.
- Choose 60Hz to increase your refresh rate.
I'm not running in 120fps mode as my TV does not support it, so this mode is disabled for me anyway.
- @CM_TGK Unfortunately just experienced a console shut down even on 60hz. So, I'm getting a bit lost and confused. Yesterday had 4 hours session without problems, today played for roughly 100 minutes and that is when it occurred again...
Yeah, I tried going down to 60 Hz and thought it might be helping but ended up crashing again on me as well. This really sucks.
I have the same issue. It got worse after the last patch. Crashed 3 times in 45 minutes on my series X today
At this stage I'm not far from stopping playing Grid Legends until this get fixed. What if the console gets broken from these constant crashes? I mean if I play for a few hours daily I will have 30 console shut offs on average per week that is just too much...
I tried every solution EA help and Xbox support told me to do and it still happened after about 15 minutes. EA help keeps telling me there’s no issue with the game so they can’t do anything. There’s clearly an issue with the game (the last patch notes even mentioned crashes) but they keep telling me they see no issues with the game. That’s so frustrating. I $70 for a game I can’t play because it crashes every 15 minutes and the support for the company is telling me they see no issues. This is why people have turned on EA in recent years. Fix the game or please give me a refund.
Though obviously won’t help everyone but I’d even settle for a code for the PS5 version in exchange. This is ridiculous.
Yeah it sucks. Can’t even play it.
It would be nice to hear that EA is at least still looking into what’s causing this.
- @Lilgamevil Yeah it would. Otherwise it seems like they don’t care. Especially when the EA help people are saying there’s no issue with the game.
