Re: Madden 20 does not launch after update

After several hours on the phone with EA and scouring the forums.  I saw a fix that worked for Madden 19 with this problem. It appears this still fixes the same issue in Madden 20.  

1. Hit Windows Key + R

2. Enter %temp%  . Press Enter

3. Make sure that hidden files are visible. 

4. Look for the Madden 20 folder. 

5. Delete the entire folder 

6. Close Origin and relaunch it. 

7. Launch Madden 20 from within your game library in Origin. 

This worked for me and the issue is now gone. 

Let me know if this fixes your issue.  It fixed the issue for me on two different machines that I tried.

    Yeah I tried all that, and it didn't work, but here's what did.

    I had to run Windows Update to get to Version 1903. This took a really, really long time, and at points I thought it was frozen. But it completed, and I was able to launch the game.

    I still got a black screen on launch, and I reinstalled video drivers for a fourth time, but the difference was installing after the 1903 update.


    Works like a charm now.

    I'm having the same issues and it happened after an update 2 days ago on my laptop. Now my gaming PC won't launch Madden after an update this morning. 

    I had this issue a few times last year on Madden 19 after updates were applied and one of my machines wouldn't launch it until a new patch was released a month later.

    What is going on here? The game is working fine and I am playing it like a champ. An update get's release. I install it and do not touch anything in settings or windows. No changes at all except update and then it won't launch. This is frustrating. There has to be something going on as I see too many people having this issue on Madden 19 and now Madden 20. Any other ideas?
