I'm assuming you're talking about next gen play (PS4/XB1). Unfortunately, there is no way to "upgrade" your player in online team play (OTP) that I know of, you're stuck playing with the players that come with the team selected by the captain in OTP. The player "upgarde" feature will probably be re-introduced in NHL16.
