I agree with you on this. Hopefully, we'll see improvements on it in the future. Stick handling very often has unintended results for me. I've had to disable clicking down on the right stick so I'm not accidentally doing the fake shot. However, I also just have a hard time going from FH to BH. There's often an odd animation and I end up shooting FH. Like you said, it's not so bad in free skate. I think this is due to not being under pressure so you can make more precise movements. Regardless, I know what you mean.

    Thanks for the response. Aside from AT&T issue, this is my biggest obstacle with the game. Finishing around the net with quick stick movements is extraordinarily  difficult and, like you said, my guy is doing things I'm not telling him to... extra animations etc.

    I've tried many things... coming in from different angles, being in a full glide, holding RT down while stick handling L and R; and nothing seems to consistently work in regards to moving the stick how I intend.

    I’ve been playing this game for a very long time. What I notice is the ping is way more volatile this year than it has been in years past. I think this is really causing a lot of the issues that get posted here including this one about stick handling. Games with bad ping my skater can’t really do much of anything including stick handle.

    I do think that's part of it as well. My player will do the protect puck animation after I let go of it, as if the game can't keep up with my R stick movements and the protect controls. At the hash marks, I'll release turbo/protect, bring it FH then BH and he is doing that animation all the way through. The times where he doesn't do it are very slow and clunky, animations coming up in between R and L movements, making it very hard to have fine control in close quarter situations.

    Previous games had this aspect down pact and the R stick was am innovative, fun, and responsive feature.

    Can you please just bring back the original skill stick controls so we can have a good game again ?

    Thanks for the feedback here. With these controls being new this year, hopefully, we'll see the kinks worked out down the road. It's been very frustrating for myself personally, but my teammates have no problem with it. So, I think it's more of a "me" issue. I'm just trying to have a lighter touch with more precise movements, but it's been a challenge for sure.

    I am in the same boat. My teammates use stride dekes and toe drags in close proximity, and I'm more of a quick L/R deke guy, so they aren't having the same issues I am. I'm sure I've annoyed them to hell and back with my questions and complaints regarding the R stick up close, so I appreciate that others who play similarly are having the same issues. At the very least, it helps me confirm it's not just me.

    I think it's a combination of how I play as well as changes to the controls. I really don't know if changes are coming to improve this. There already were updates to this so that clicking down on the right stick doesn't trigger as often as before, but it's still an issue for me, but at least it's improved. I'm just going to keep trying to adapt to the changes for now.

    Turbo/protect has been mapped to a paddle underneath for me for the past 3 years, so that isn't an issue for me. Although he does continue the protect mechanic longer than I'm holding it, on the replay he's clearly protecting it but I have let go several secs earlier.

    i would record a clip but it would only be helpful if that feature that showed which buttons were being pressed was still available. Then you could see 100% certainty that protect was not being held. But the movements with the stick feel as if it is

    I would love for the controller overlay to return. This needs to be rebuilt for the Frostbite engine. There just have been bigger priorities to handle so hopefully, we'll have this back in a future game.
