Re: HDR too dark in NHL 22

2020 Samsung Q90T QLED TV.

Gamertag - Outlawed Torn

Xbox Series X

I experience the dimming everywhere in the game. (Gameplay/Menus)

It is most noticeable on the ice where is it a greyish color inside of white as it is when HDR is off.

Also very noticeable on the player transition screens during gameplay where the colors look very dull.

I tried the Xbox HDR Calibration in the system settings multiple times, but it does nothing to help with the brightness in NHL 22.

I messed with every TV setting (Brightness, Color, Contrast, HGIG Tone Mapping, Auto Black Levels, Eco Settings, etc) and nothing makes the ice look less grey with HDR enabled.

I think the game really needs a HDR Brightness and Nit Peak adjustment settings in the game menus.

NHL 22 is the only game I own where there the HDR makes the game look less bright and vibrant and is lacking the HDR Brightness/Nit Peak adjustment settings in the game menus that most other HDR enabled games have.

  • @walts44 The issue is that there shouldn't be darkness with HDR. Turning off HDR shouldn't be a solution. You should post your TV so EA has more information to look into this issue.

^^^^Exactly this. I don’t do this with other games. I want the game to look good in HDR mode as the colors pop. It clearly does and is bright in the offensive zone until you enter the other 2 zones.

This exact same thing happened last year with me on my Oled without HDR and then it was fixed somehow later on.

Please everyone report so we can get this fixed asap.
