Re: all my games are stuck in preparing download

My problem with a game stuck in 'Preparing Download' is that it is not creating the game folder in Program Files (x86) so there is nothing to rename, it has been an hour and a half and it is stuck not creating a folder and not knowing what to call it other than Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault. I did try to create a folder with that name to no avail.

I had the same issue. (On Windows 7 for Medal of Honor) What worked for me is right-clicking and cancelling download. Then exit Origin.  I then right-clicked on Origin and selected the run as administrator option. It starting downloading within a minute.

@tazmo8448Have you been able to solve your issue. I have exactly the same as yours and nowhere does anyone mention how to solve it when there are no folders being created...

I was able to get it to download by first creating a folder (hoping it would 'see' it and it did) in my case F:\ Program Files (86) then opened that (it was showing all my EA games btw) then creating a folder Medal of Honor Pacific Assault in that list of game folders, it was showing Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Need for Speed (TM) etc etc. I have separate drives for gaming and my C:\ drive is on a SSD and only has my OS on it.

When I first tried to download Pacific Assault (in Origin) it seemed stuck so I 'X-ed' out and closed it out of the task bar too, then created that folder as mentioned, then ran it again in Origin and bingo it took. Never had a game do that (seem hung on installing or preparing to install) the second go round (after the said folder was created) when I clicked on Download it then opened another window and worked normally like all the other downloads I've done on Origin.

My issue now is when the game starts (every time btw) it'll ask what resolution you want to play in (along with other tabs for sound and whatnot)  in my case there is no 1920x1080 so when I choose a 'close' resolution then play a while then quit to desktop it re-arranges all my desktop icons because they were in 1080p and the game was in some other resolution...its a real PITA to have to do that a lot as I have quite a few icons on my desktop and have em arranged to where I know where everything is...grrrr.

luckily origin has a very simple naming system eg. no dots or dashes in folder names making it pretty easy to guess the folder name its going to create (or fail to create in your case) im glad you found a solution

Yeah naming a file folder or game directory is much simpler than some. 

This is what I did as well.  Standard 'if it isnt working, run as administrator' stuff. It worked

Always run things as Admin....don't know why this particular game was being 'hard headed' in downloading but it was and took some thought to get it to work. Might be because it's an older game dunno. Every other one I've ever done went smooth as silk.

if your download is stuck and no folder was created go to the folder in step 1 and create the folder eg Medal of Honor Pacific Assault (origin dosent add special characters to there folder names so any special characters in game names are spaces and any existing spaces are spaces in the folder name) the only exeption i have found to that is need for speed the folder name is Need for Speed(TM) Most Wanted with the trademark tm in brackets so if you have the problem with that game there is the folder name you create and them start the download and then follow steps above

I just got Origin Access for the early Mass Effect: Andromeda trial and figured since I had OA now, I might as well take advantage of it. So I snagged Mirror's Edge: Catalyst and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but immediately got stuck in the download with Catalyst. Your solution here solved my problem on the first go. Thank you SO much for posting it. You saved me god only knows how much time and tech rage. 🙂

 For me it just was stuck on resuming, then after that I exited then opened up origin and it only skipped to 16%

Did you let it resume all they way or did you stop it mid way?

the reason it sits on resuming for the longest time is because its verifying all the files before it starts again just like wen you install  a game on steam that you already have the files for it searches through the existing files to see if anything is missing. origin does this but not as obviously

also if the resume puts you to only 18% it means ether your original game files are corrupt or there are updates to the game that origin is installing 

Exactly what i did. it failed the first time, but I then closed origin in my task manager and re-opened it as administrator and now its started to download🙂

Please help. My games aren't downloading at all. They stay at download in queue and don't do anything - I've tried clearing the cache, reinstalling origin, running as admin, everything I can think of. When I clear the cache and restart my PC my game says '0% paused' and does nothing until I cancel the download. Then when I try to download it again, it reverts back to 'download in queue'. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING I'VE BEEN TRYING FOR 4 HOURS THEY WERE WORKING YESTERDAY WHY WON'T THEY JUST DOWNLOAD AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THE DIRECTORY FILES ARE ALL FINE SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM
