Apex still running in Steam, even though i already close it

The fix for me was after restarting the PC (since Apex has to be closed),

Reinstall EasyAntiCheat then reinstall Steam

1.) Reinstall Easy AntiCheat: file located on Steamapps\common\Apex Legends\EasyAntiCheat

Run the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe

Select Apex Legends > Install

Then press "Repair service"

2.) With Steam closed, download Steam from their site. Delete all the files and folders in the Steam folder except SteamApps.

Cut and paste that SteamApps folder elsewhere since the Steam folder has to be empty to reinstall.

Once you log into Steam close it, then cut and paste the SteamApps folder where Apex was downloaded to back into the Steam folder.

Launch Steam, click into Apex, and when it says Choose a drive, select the location where the game is installed and it should auto-detect that it's installed. Then Cancel out of the installation window.

TL;DR, crux of the issue may be EasyAntiCheat and/or a corrupt Steam install.

Spoke too soon, the issue is back again...

I have the same issues, and the game is starting crash and freeze since the Dec.1 new patch released, but between the Nov.14 patch and the Dec.1 patch these days ,my game is fine

I can find the game progress, but I can't kill it.It says "An attempt was made to access an exiting process" when I want to do that .

Checking with the Process Hacker tool, it does seem to be stuck in the process of closing.

One of the first mentions of this issue can be found a few years back, though that's completely unrelated to this issue if others find things from 2 years back.

This issue seems to be caused by EAC, users are reporting it on ARK, DbD and some other games.

DbD has been able to resolve this issue recently: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3281956

I haven't seen any reports of Apex users experiencing it in that timeframe, though, it's completely possible that it's related.

I can't send a ticket to EAC at this current moment, though it might be helpful to at least contact them from what I can see here.

It's technically not running as a process, rather as a thread.

Eventually it closes itself, is it looping or waiting for something?

yeah tried the same with EAC, uninstalling, worked the first time - buit didnt actual load into a game, only the lobby. Played a game and quit and it's still there in steam and the processes.

Ok, this worked for me!

Quit the game, saw the process still running.

Searched for EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe on my C: drive.

Uninstalled EAC.

Started the game again - Apex reinstalls EAC, but quit after loading into main screen (did not start a match!)

On exiting, the game quit properly and there was no instance running in my back ground processes.

same here happend sins this /last week i got no idea how to fix it . had a couple days inbetween that nothing happend but now agian its does this .. anticheat is so *
