What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Moving the mouse
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? I don't know
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 0
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm)
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? Since the new Apex update on 21/02/2023, I have had a problem with my mouse polling rate again. I had this issue last year also, but it was fixed. The issue is that when you move the mouse constantly in Apex, the screen "freezes". It's unplayable! When I stop moving the mouse, everything runs as expected. Going down with the polling rate from 1000Hz to 500Hz makes it a little better, and going to 125Hz makes it playable but stutters too. I use the Razer Viper 8K Hz but usually run Apex with 1000Hz/1000DPI.
What should be happening instead? Running smoothly
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I don't know, the only thing I know is that I had played on Monday as usual, and since Tuesday, this has kept happening.

Things I already tried: reinstalling Razer Software, starting apex without the razer software, using a different brands mouse, reinstalling apex

  • @TheUndex Hey! I solved my issue that started all of a sudden (not played yet but tested the issue in menus on every test round). Disable EA app overlay and try to play, does it solve for you?

  • Having the exact same issue.  125 seems so loose and unplayable. I've played on 1000 since season 0 with no issues until yesterday. playing on 125 is just horrible

Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. It does it throughout any part when the game is launched from menu to load screen to game to match summary
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. The game update on 2/21 broke this

What happens when the bug occurs? If the polling rate is set to 1000 or 500 for my mouse, the game lags significantly when I move my cursor. If I changed to polling rate to 125, the game works at about 85% efficiency when moving mouse making the game stutter and unplayable
What should be happening instead? The game should be supporting the higher 1000 polling rate that I've used since season 0.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Unsure if this is a global issue, but for me on PC using a Razer Naga Pro swapping from 1000, to 500, to 125 you can see the difference in mouse lag when changing those polling rates.

Game is unplayable with 1000, 500 polling rates for my Razer Naga Pro. 125 polling rate makes the game about 85% smooth.  This started happening after update on 2/21/2023 and makes the game completely unplayable. I've played on the same polling rate 1000 since Season 0.  I've reinstalled the game 4 times today, verified all drivers are up to date.  Unable to play this game right now.  Any help would be appreciated

  • I have exactly the same issue going an now all of a sudden and it makes Apex 100% unplayable because the game process halts when moving mouse. Everything is frozen still if I keep moving mouse and even the in game counter for example in resolution change confirmation dialog gets frozen and continues where it left before started to move the mouse like 10 seconds straight. Other games seem to be normal but Apex is like this all of a sudden and is related to polling rate of mouse.

That solved it for me, smooth as heck now back at 1000 for polling rate.

  • No problemos... my testing was quite extensive with various attempts, including such:
    - clean boot to narrow down possible conflict causing apps or services

    - BIOS settings (C-state disable, BIOS update)

    - nvidia driver downgrading etc.

    - mouse driver uninstalls (razer, glorious, pulsar, lamzu...)

    - usb root hub driver uninstall and reboot

    - antivirus related exclusions

    - testing other games to see that they are not effected

    - reinstalling and repairing apex

    - ea app recovery

    - disconnecting USB devices

    - uninstalling some other apps that are running in the background

    - googling some stuff related to 1000 polling rate and my cpu 9900K, because the issue normally is related to CPU and USB if I am understanding right

    - ... and this issue made me update from windows 10 to 11

    ...

So yes, there were some stuff I did... 🙂

  • Why isn't this fixed? I see this is a problem with a few other Battlefield games too. I actually ended up buying a new Razer mouse thinking there's something wrong with my Logitech. After trying literally everything else under the sun, changing the polling rate from 1000Hz to 500Hz fixed the problem for me for both my mouse. I wasted my money because of a badly optimized game. I say that because I don't have this issue with any other games I'm currently playing and this showed up all of a sudden. Lesson learned.
