ps4 controller freeze

Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Olympus, on jump tower from skyhook to countdown
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. revenant ran ahead and got into a fight and so i ran to jump tower, landed and my controller froze
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? Yes
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? a few
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) december 14 2020
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? the ps4 controller rumbles, then dies. no lights, no usb connection.
What should be happening instead? ps4 controller lives
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? the problem is basically anti ghosting keyboard, if several keys at once happens, locking. so get shot, loot, mash buttons, and sticks, all at same time should do it.

i don't know what to write here i wrote it all in my reports, basically its a "the problem is basically anti ghosting keyboard, if precion several keys at once happens locking."

the problem kills my usb port and shuts down my ps4 controller untill i either restart the windows explorer and then switch usb ports, or i reboot.

    @EA_Kenti decided to try casual again to see more death boxes and have a different game than platinum 4 ranked. and third game in my controller froze, more specifically the left stick momentarily froze.

    see the video, after i threw down my picture with the a button in the revenant tactical my left stick froze then i got it back the exact moment the revenant tactical made the sound its ending;

    i found that in my previous video, looting the death box, there was a blue light before i started to loot, i think this was my shields, i started to loot by pressing the x button, the a button on my ps5 controller, then my controller froze.

    Thanks for following up! Are you currently running any third party software for your controller, such as DS4Windows or something similar?

    Are there any other USB devices connected to your PC aside from your controller, mouse, and keyboard? If so can you try disconnecting the other devices to see if that makes any difference at all? I have seen some cases in the past where other input devices can cause some issues like this.

    @EA_Kent i have my oculus rift connected to a hdmi and usb, but the usb is on a seperate add on card that has its own connection to the psu.

    the controller is plugged into the motherboard usb, where i have only the mouse and keyboard each on their own usb extension cable and the controller on its own usb extension cable.

    i can try unplugging the oculus rift though and see if that helps or not.

    @EA_Kent right now i stopped playing apex legends on the pc.

    i started to play rank, and got hard stuck in platinum 4, on my pc. and i was max rank 500.

    so i decided to grind to max rank 500 on my ps4 instead of doing nothing on my pc. this way i can earn my free heirloom and by then crypto should have a heirloom. i earn more than 1 rank per day which puts it at 250 or so days near xmas 2021 just in time.

    so i don't think i will debug this problem anymore. good luck!

    @EA_Kent i checked today what was plugged in the pc usb slots and on the motherboard i had the usb extension cable for the mouse, the usb extension cable for the keyboard, the oculus rift cameras took two usb ports, and the oculus rift headset usb was plugged into the pcie attachment usb card.

    so i unplugged the oculus rift cameras and headset, leaving only the mouse, keyboard, and ps5 controller, each using a usb extension cable, 6 feet.

    then i played the pc apex legends. i had about 7 or 8 games ok, i had a thought that maybe the crypto had nothing like the barrels caustic has or the black market the theif lady has, so i switched to caustic then 5 or so games in i got 2 freezes to my ps5 controller.

    i recorded it and put it on youtube.

    the ps5 controller froze at:
    - 12:00, i unplugged and replugged in the cable to the controller which fixed it.
    - 16:51, i couldn't make the ps5 controller work or turn on by unplugging and replugging in the usb on the ps5 controller, so i used the mouse and keyboard until later on when it turn on by itself.
    - 18:06, i saw the controller was on again so i started to use the ps5 controller again.

    so now i did the test for you i will go back to playing the apex legends on my ps4. i wish i had a ps5 but those are impossible to find online in canada. ☹️
