Re: Black Screen Crash on AMD

@ramon555555

Black screens like these typically are issues related to either overheating or problems with your drivers.

Try updating to the latest drivers and make sure that the computer is in a good state.

I'm not noticing any driver errors in your dxdiag, which is kind of weird.

How long have you been using this GPU for?

  • The GPU is 33 degrees celcius on idle and 70 degrees celcius is the average temp in Apex. I've been using this GPU for about a year and 4-6 months. The black screen crashes has still only ever happened twice and I've been playing quite a lot.

    91.4 Fahrenheit on idle.

    158 Fahrenheit in apex.

Whacky, possibly the driver got corrupted.

Try uninstalling the drivers with DDU and reinstalling the new drivers after that.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Use radeon card and adrenalin drivers, you'll see it pretty quickly

Same problem, but it keeps coming to me suddenly at any moment of the match. Driver reinstall just doesnt fixing anything, before july 28 update all worked smoothly and perfectly- so I can assume there IS a problem in the game with Radeon Drivers after last update. By the way, there is sometimes just lags all of sudden, which I never experienced before in Apex.

Radeon 5700. Driver version 22.7.1, but driver reinstall to the old one didn't help at all.

  • I'm also having the same problem. Can play for sometimes an hour before a crash but it has happened to me consistently every evening, one or more times. Get the error code 0x887A0005 and game crashes to desktop. Also running AMD Radeon 5700 XT. (Temps around 75 degrees c in-game)

When it first happened I updated to the latest gpu driver without change. I've also done a clean uninstall of the driver and still crashed again this evening. I was playing through Origin and tried switching to Steam but no difference there.

I've of course tried repairing files on both Origin and Steam but I've yet to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game ( Mostly because it will take probably a full day to download) but I'm running out of idea's to try and fix the problem.

Tomorrow I'm going to try the optional instead of recommended gpu driver so if this works I'll post again. Also I've seen posts and video's that suggest editing the registry to increase Windows Timeout Detection Recovery, which seems to have helped people with the same error, though not really understanding what I'm doing with this I'm hesitating to try.

  • Thanks for voicing ur issues as well. A few people on reddit also have this issue with the same GPU as yourself and I'm guessing they will fix this with the next GPU driver update. In regards to your specific GPU, I count at least 3 other people two of which voiced their issues on this specific post.

  • @EA_Atic yes. i tried everything. I try repair files/REinstall game. nothing help. this started when the patch came on July 25th.

  • You ever figure it out, i’m still crashing after the apex update tried everything except uninstalling drivers.
