Re: Friends list incorrectly shows friends as level 1 Wraith's

@PistolSkin Hi, thanks for the post, it's certainly an odd one.

I doubt it's network related, but can you try power cycling your router and see if doing so has any impact.

I see from your other post you have Steam linked, but do you have any console accounts linked?

Hi @EA_David. Thanks for your response. I can confirm that I have no network issues. I have a dedicated streaming network and web connection. The only things connected to that network is my streaming equipment. It’s constantly monitored for speed and connectivity etc.

There are no console accounts connected to my steam or EA accounts. I used to run Apex from Origin but had to reinstall windows after something completely broke it. When I tried to re-install Origin I was informed that it was discontinued. I decided to reinstall Apex using Steam as I launch other apps such as Kovaks from Steam.

I first noticed issues with my friends list at the start of Season 16, but I did the reinstall of windows not long before this so I’m not sure if it was broken pre Season 16.

Last week I tried installing the EA app which seems to see all of my friends. However, I don’t want to spend several hours attempting to install and setup Apex via the EA app just to see if my friends list starts working again. I stream Apex almost every day so also don’t want to accidentally mess up Apex on my PC for a day or two.

@PistolSkin That's interesting. I have tagged someone who was dealing with some friendslist issues before, hopefully he'll have some insight.

For now, are you able to try syncing your Steamfriends again via the EA app and see if that helps?

If you do want to try the EA app route, it's worth nothing that they are separate installs, so if you do have issues with the EA app version of the game it's unlikely to affect the Steam install.

Hi @EA_David. Thanks for looking in to this, I really appreciate it.

I've checked the EA App and my Steam friends are already imported:

My Steam friends list is as follows:

I have been looking in to this myself for several weeks, and can now see that my Steam friends always appear on my Apex friends list (at least when the are offline). But, if I look at their details in Apex today I see that they are all level 1 Gibbys (it was level 1 Wraiths last time):

I only appear to see EA friends when they are playing Apex, but I am not sure if I can see all of my online EA friends in Apex.

Here's my current Apex friends list:

Here's my EA app friends list:

I have highlighted the friends that are shown as online in Apex (most of them have name changes so cross matching is hard). I can't find Pogtanee or any of their previous names on my EA or Steam list.

I hope this helps track down what the cause of the problem may be?

I don't know for sure, but that level of detail sure can't hurt.

Just to cross this off if possible, would you have anyone physically nearby who has the game installed whose system you could try using (EA app or Steam)? It's ok if not, but it would just hard cut off a whole bunch of potential issues which I don't think are at play here. Related to that, someone nearby with an established friends list on your system could be illuminating too.
Unfortunately the usual trick of using a burner account won't fly here.

It could also be DB issue on our end, but that can be really hard to narrow down on. I've passed on the extra details, hopefully they help with figuring it out.

@EA_David I have a work laptop with a 1070 GPU on it. That's currently in my office at work (I work from home a lot atm) but I could get it braught over to my home office to try. Would it help it I also try create an Apex install from the EA app? I could try and work that in around the hours that I am working and streaming as it will hog my bandwidth for a few hours.

    @PistolSkin It's definitely worth a shot.
Also worth noting that in the EA app settings you can throttle download rate so as to not interfere with your other tasks.

@EA_DavidHi. Apex just finished downloading via the EA app. I found a bug with the EA app when I did this. I initially set the download to 5MB/s. When there was only 20 minutes left I changed the download speed for Apex to Unlimited but the download speed did not change and remained around 5MB/s.

The good news is that my friends list works via the EA app. I can see 4 pages of friends and the information for my offline Steam friends is correct, but lots of my other friends are currently appearing as level 1 Bangalores or level 1 Lifelines.

    Thanks again.

I think the throttling thing may be normal, as a download ends, it tends to self-throttle.

So after some digging it looks like the level 1 thing is a known issue too, but they should appear again correctly when online and searchable.

So back on the initial issue, did you notice if all the disappearing friends are on console, or even a specific console if you know them well enough for that?

@EA_DavidIf a play via the Steam Apex I definately have issues with player on XBox and Playstation. I can see PC players who use Steam for Apex but I'm not sure about PC players using the EA app because I can't think of any friends who definately play Apex on PC via the EA app. It looks more like when playing on Steam I cannot see anyone not on Steam unless they are online.

@EA_David The friends list is still not working correctly even when Apex is launched via the EA app. I added a follower on last nights stream. They could see me in their friends list be they were no added to my friends list. I tried restarting Apex but their name still did not appear in my friends list. They then sent me a squad invite and in the end I had to join their lobby (not ideal as I lose control of my lobby diring a stream). I checked my friends list after playing a few games with them and found that i could now see them in my friends list. I also tried adding several other people but they never even received my friend invite and I did not receive theirs.

The in game name for this player is "iSinzOn60fps" which does not appear on my friends list. Instead (after lots of investigation) they appear as "McDINNERz" a level 1 Wraith:

That's interesting, I'll raise this quirk in the thread on this. It looks like it's trying to use (likely nonexistent) PC player data, rather than the console player data, so it's not appearing for you to invite and you get the blank Wraith.

Now it's possible that this is related to settings on ISinzOn60fps' side, but my gut instinct is that this isn't the case.
