I don't know how the Normal mode matchmaking system works, sorry... but I'm playing lately on casual and don't think it's unplayable or impossible to win (or get a good result) - at least not to understand why so many complaints about it. So, I'm probably missing something.
At least, in the normal games I've played lately I haven't experienced anything as bad, don't know... but then again, why not play ranked? If you play without a pre-made party, you should be paired with people with a similar skill level (and not wanting to quit to avoid penalty and RP loss).
So, basically, what people is asking is to have RANKED WITH RP and RANKED WITHOUT RP? I don't think it's so bad to find better (and worse) players in a random match, it's just casual... go try your best! Anyway, I'll play later just to check how bad Normal mode is...

By no means is casual bad. A bit more grinding I think. I noticed a fair amount of player ids today that I haven't seen before(hk/tw) servers. I guess they've been playing predator matches all along cause they all had their badges. But, since everyone has dropped to 100, they're back into playing casual. They said they enjoy the change cause they have sth else to work towards other than waiting for queues and playing ranked every match..
I think the one reason why some would rather not play ranked is cause some take it a bit too "serious". (Verbal insults and pressure= no fun! ) Which I do understand, because some players see their levels the same as their girl/boy scout badges and pins. Fair enough. Anyways...hope for the best...

Sure, I'm just an average player I think... Gold III (about to go Gold II) but I don't play too much, and not many of my matches are in ranked so I progress slowly.
I'm playing on PC, I don't know if this SBMM issue is different depending on the platform. Yesterday I won a match and finished second on my own (just two of us in the selection screen, my mate got downed later but couldn't recover him).
So, for me normal matches didn't look so bad, but I'll keep an eye on this. I haven't got the impression of being "owned" by elite players everywhere - but that's my experience until now.
Hmm, SBMM existed for weeks, yet people started complaining only when the devs admitted it officially. Just doesn't smell right to me. Anyway, if I'm looking at my stats, they're steadily going up in small increments since season 2. I had a few matches where there were like 1/3 diamonds and sometimes predators with almost 30k kills, but most of the times I just needed to land safe and let them kill each other, while having some really enjoyable battles at the end. Other times, the lobby is filled with beginners and the match is relaxed.
The only moment when my stats took a plunge was during Duos LTM, when there was a wave of sweats and cheaters. But nobody complained about having to work very hard there, hmmm...
