Facing Server Lag

Hello Guys,

I play apex legends with my 2 friends on the same internet connection (30Mbps uplink and downlink) but I face multiple lag signs at my end. At the same moment, my friends don't have any lag issues. Sometimes it's reverse lag and sometime is very jerky and unable to play. Can anyone tell me what's the issue and how I can solve it?

Same issues with me on my previous machine. Just bought HP Omen some days ago.

I didn't change any graphics settings just using by default settings apex has set.

My machine is most powerful in our team.

HP Omen 15T

Core i9-9880H Processor

RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design 8Gb

16Gb Ram

512Gb NVME SSD

1 Tb Transcend SSD

15.6 Screen 240Hz Display

  • @seriousam53 30mbps isn't much when trying to play this game online... I have a friend with the same speeds and they can rarely hold a connection for a whole game.

Consider all the devices on your network, as each one reduces yours and thus results in laggy or unplayable games.

Best solution, block everyone off it and write it off to them as, "ISP fixing the internet bro, give it 3 hours"

If the Asian players just could play at their own server there wouldn't be lag.

    There! Problem fix.

@iBlockHead30mbps is plenty of bandwidth to play any game. While other devices and online activities can eat up that bandwidth causing issues it is more likely that the splitting of packets coming from Apex's servers are causing this issues.

@seriousam53 the main issue is and has always been Respawn's netcode choices and out dated server config's. Not much you can do other than ensure most the bandwidth isn't being eaten up by streaming video on your network. Buy and large even if you had the full 30Mbps speed free and where just gaming you would likely still have this issue.

Bad routing from you ISP to the game servers could also be an issue also.

@GRiPSViGiL it is, which is why I suggested he block everyone on it so he gets the full 30 to himself.

I use to play on 30 as well but the moment someone hopped on netflix, boom my games were booty, in BF3 I would rubber band like crazy.

When I decided to pay for a higher speed, all my previous issues disappeared.

This also happens with my friends, so they only play at night because that way their network is stable and they won't have any issues.

The only times I believe its a server issue is when the whole lobby is stuttering. Otherwise its very likely on user end.

Don't believe me? Try it folks, hog that internet for yourself and see how it improves.
  • Yes, but sometimes it's working without any issues and sometimes only 2 players share 30Mbps speed and I have lag not the other one.

I submitted a request to my internet provider and this is what I got.

    -----------

    Dear Customer,
With reference to our verbal discussion, this is to inform you that we have checked your link status which is up and connected with optimal power level health and currently no such issue observed. We would like to share that being consumer in nature, we cannot commit fixed latency over a certain destination as it may vary at different hops. This variation is dependent on the routing between the upstream provider and the (IX) International Exchange. As routing at Pakistan transit is beyond an ISP's control.
Also, you are requested to verify the status by directly connecting your end device with our ONT(StormFiber Device) for optimum and check when there is no heavy utilization observed. Please note that you might face packet losses/high latency when your link is in a choking state.

For any further question, concern or suggestion for service improvement please let us know by contacting at [City Code] 111-1-(STORM) 78676.

    Best Wishes,
    StormFiber Technical Support

@seriousam53 omg so all 3 of you use the same network??

That's only 10mbps for each of you unless someone manages to pull in more, of course you'll have issues.

Up the speeds, the ISP is working fine, it's how the end side is handling it (your systems). For 3 gamers on 1 network, best believe you'll need a nice 50-60mbps and higher if you want to connect it to all your phones.

I have 100 right now and I'm able to host 4 consoles with no lag issues.
  • This happens sometimes but most of the time we play perfectly fine on the same internet.

Yesterday, I was alone on the same connection and started apex legends and there was reverse lag and I could play. Even when I try to pick a weapon it doesn't register it.

We were playing on the Singapore server but now we get connected to the Belgium server and this happens a lot now and ping is pretty high most of the time (around 125-200)

Can I use any VPN to get stable server connection for apex legends?
