Apex legends - dxgi_error_device_hung

Hello, I recently got the game and keep getting this message "dxgi_error_device_hung the applications device failed due to badly formed command sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed" 

Drivers up to date and PC can certainly run it, tried repairing game files also.

Any idea what it could be or how I can fix it?

    [Admin Edit - the NVIDIA driver version 419.17 reports to address this issue. Thanks @Konform103 ]

    First day I played for 5 hours, second day I played for 8 hours, during those 13 hours I had at least 10 crashes with the error "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG".

    Third day I had enough, downclocked CPU, Memory and Graphics Card, to below stock, just to be completely sure it wasn't that. And it still crashed with the DXGI error.

    I experimented with texture settings and windowed borderless, as well as a FPS limiter set to 120. Nothing worked, and I did a quick google search and found a thread here on the EA forums, with multiple people using RTX cards saying they had the same issue as me, so at that point I was sure it wasn't on my end, it was simply a driver issue. I then read multiple reports of older drivers solving the problem, so I installed the 417.35 (December 12) driver for Windows 10 64-bit, over my previously installed 418.81 (February 4), I did not do a complete reinstall, simply started the install and installed it over my previous one, I did not chose "clean install" or even restarted my computer, just replaced the 418.81 files with 417.35, and I then started the game again and managed to play the game for 3 hours straight without a single DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG crash.

    I then put the computer to sleep, and the next day I played for another 6 hours without a single crash, and the day after that I restarted the computer and played another 6 hours without a crash.

    So the conclusion is that 417.35 did completely solve my crashing, the DXGI error was completely gone.

    System Specs: Z370, 9900K overclocked to 5GHz, 16GB DDR4 overclocked to 4000MHz CL16, RTX 2080 Ti at factory overclock (1900MHz) and game installed on Windows 10 Home 1809 (17763.292) on a SSD.

    In-game settings: 2560 x 1440 (144 Hz), V-Sync Off, TSAA On, 16X AF, Textures on Medium and Model on High, the rest Disabled/Low/Off. Game still looks great and runs 120-144 FPS constantly.

    I am also using ReShade (4.0.2) with LumaSharpen enabled, to counter the blurring that TSAA causes, so there's no jaggies and looks sharp. (Not caused any issues with anti-cheat, disconnects or crashing of any kind)

    418 nvidia drivers have this happen every game, 417 and 419 will still experience it but not as often.

    Simply put the code in the game is not right and this is up to Respawn to fix, but they dont have an error reporter in game to send an error report to them that would highlight the line(s) of code that need to be addressed which might help to speed up the process of bug fixing.

    419.17 does NOT resolve the issue, Still getting the same after, Completely reformatted. same issue,

    Team , 

    I have literally tried everything at this point, downclocked gpu and cpu, under clocked memory, re-installed windows, removed gsync, change resolutions, changed all in game settings, installed Ubuntu and emulated the game with wine, preformed various hardware swapping between the 1080 and 2080 ti, different drivers, 419 and 417.35 both of which do not work even went as far back as 415.63 

    Daughters computer, - 

    2700x / 980ti runs fine, Swapped for 2080ti, running 419.71 , perfect no issues. 

    still no success. Please fix this game. Ironically enough, my system could literally put me on the moon if I tried hard enough, but it can't play a ftp game because the application hung causing a crash. This is outrageous. 

    Please assist, I continually encounter dxgi_error_device_hung for some reason and it just blows my mind that this hasn't been resolved yet. I appreciate all the feed back , but it sounds like this is more than just a driver issue at this point, Please mark this unsolved, and fix the game.

    I have had an almost identical process of attempting to fix the crashing issues as robion listed above.  I'm on a 2700x / rtx2080 build, I've upgraded my all of my drivers multiple times, finally attempted rolling back to 417.35.  I've been playing since the day after launch, despite the constant crashing, because the game is that good.  When the 418.91 driver came out I finally stopped crashing for a few days -- until Apex had its own update, and then the crashes returned worse than before.  It has gotten to the point today where even with the newest 419 driver and the 417.35 driver I can't make it through a single game without crashing. 

    Unfortunately I just can't deal with how unplayable the game has become for me due to these crashes (when it gets to the point where your friends joke about needing to win or lose before your game fails, you start to get the hint).  I'll be shelving Apex Legends until I hear definitively that this has been resolved.  Please fix your game so I can enjoy it again.

    I have been having the same issue but only since i put my RTX 2080ti back into my machine while running on the GTX 1080FE i never got this issue, just wonder if there is anyone having this issue with a GTX card or is this exclusive to RTX and some AMD cards?

    That's not the Nvidia job to fix this. This issue occurs with AMD cards as well.
