Re: 40% Off 3 weeks after release

Even at a price 40% off the MSRP this game is still overpriced. It is a desperate reaction to keep the game populated. As steam charts indicate the player count is already on a decline. On steam there are almost as many Battlefield 5 players as there are Battlefield 2042 players.

I played Battlefield 5 yesterday and it was really enjoyable. I mean it has never been perfect and also had lots of issues that we criticised back then. However compared to Battlefield 2042 it almost looks like a masterpiece made by geniuses.

So what is now the “wow “ on this topic?

This is not the first game, that happened so many times before with other AAA titles get some % off 4-6 weeks after release and every time some people get upset.

For examples Jurassic World Evolution 2 is out for around 1 month now and you get 30% off or the new Guardians of the Galaxy also 35% off, both on steam

And as someone has written before its max 33% off on origin not 40% 😉

So as I said this happens all the time….nothing new

  • If the BF2042 game was good and more players coming online to play it as expected per business plan, then this game would not have gone onto a fire sale just 3 weeks after launch, especially as we have xmas/new year days just ahead.

Speaks volumes about the commercial disaster this has been so far.

This, I have never seen a game have such a big discount so quick after launch. Maybe a 10% discount yeah but not a 3rd off, especially when they been selling Ultimate for £100 before launch just 4 weeks ago.

It literally defo speaks volumes of just how bad it is doing.

The WOW and big deal is obvious. I studied marketing. You don't mark down a product which is very popular, selling well and has the potential to produce the projected revenue. That it is already being marked down is testimony that it is not meeting revenue targets. I wasted $108 on this dog. And it is nothing like the video advertising both outside and inside the game. It is a disgraceful POS! And now they have changed the only good thing, Portal and replaced BF; 1942, 3, and Bad company with Rush. In addition the weekly mission has you getting 30 kills with a crappy weapon like the Marksman rifle, and 50 revives, you're lucky to get 3 in a match and 3 arming or defusing in Rush. My skill level is not the best and that is not going to happen so I have 0 motivation to play this trashy game. I am very disappointed and anyone that asks me, I tell them don't buy it.

Anyone know how long it's on sale for?

I do not buy the game without joystick Support even if it is on sale when there is no info when or if it will come. And the game does not seem to be worth the full price even with joystick support.
So I hope they keep it on sale until joystick support is added.

It's not "on sale". A disconted price is always a more correct price. A car is always listed with a negotiation-buffer. A game is always listed with a discount-buffer to reel in sales in the continuing weeks after launch.

@Spidder81  BFV was effectively half price within weeks of launch and just before xmas too.  It annoyed me back then and so (unusually) I did not pre-order 2042, especially after experiencing its beta.

  • @Prep768 Me 🙋 As I'm still not able to play this game (low fps/fps drops), I switched back to BF5 and it's soo much more fun with the smaller maps, scoreboard, squads etc.
I also switched to play COD (the new Vanguard, not Warzone) for the first time in life and I have to admit, I really like it. It's a shame that EA/Dice is not able to make a game which runs smoothly like Vanguard. Especially because Vanguard or even BF5 looks just as good as 2042.

@Movi37 I agree, im on ps5 and to me there are very few if any visual differences that make me say wow this game truly is the next generation of battlefield games. If anything its a step back in most areas of gameplay and the graphics are just inline with bfv at best.

@Spidder81 Jurassic World Evolution 2 30%-35% one month old or guardians of the galaxy 35% off, now on steam...

I sure hope this is the case, to maybe get those who didn’t want to shell out the money for an unfinished game. It feels like a slap in the face but whatever, if it drums up new  players then it’s worth the “loss” for more people to jam with.

I think Dice anticipated the giant *, that's why they included AI in servers, they knew.

@CyberDyme I definitely feel ripped off at this point, tried to get a refund from Microsoft but it was denied because I had the game too long. In the end it was my fault for pre-ordering so I'll just have to suck it up.
