Re: Battlefield 2042 is still the worst game in the franchise.

@Adamonic You summed it up super well. They have ample time and opportunity to learn from the mistakes made with 2042 if they choose to listen (no bets on that). Crossplay has to be an option, not a requirement. PC players think consoles have an advantage, and vice versa, the only fix is to revert to crossplay off as default for whatever game they make next. It’s a failed experiment as they suck at it. If they’ve adjusted a mouse to be worse just to provide consoles with an advantage rather than give them M&K ability, then they can kiss my grits. There’s a growing group of crossplay off players for the PC and the game players pretty smooth as long as they’re in region. So many lessons for Dice…

I think that we have seen that there are server-side mouse settings from the last patch. I can see no other reason there would be these settings unless they are trying to make console players even with M&K players and that really bites!

Cross play off should be the default setting but here we sit with this monstrosity.

And they still haven fixed the mouse mushiness.

    So sad.

@sk1lld I hadn't read about the mouse settings server side until Anobix's comment earlier. My mind is still a little blown tbh. All we can do is express our displeasure with our wallets with the new game. Pre-sales should be the first sign that all the players are sending a message. Let's hope that both parties (devs and players) make smart choices for the next game.

It definitely is the worst BF in the franchise out of the titles I've played (BF1942, BF3, BF4, BF1 and BFV).

I think @Adamonic summarized it pretty well. The whole specialist concept is completely out of tune with what Battlefield used to be, and solely implemented to sell cosmetics. Meanwhile the lack of proper content  (Maps, weapons, vehicles, NOT SKINS) at this point also makes this title the worst in the franchise. Just give us back premium and seasonal DLC with 4 new maps and other content, I'll pay for that, I won't pay for any cosmetics!

I have switched crossplay off at PS5, and that should be a default for any platform! That experiment failed miserably and crossplay should only be an option to those who want to play with friends on different platforms. Otherwise everybody should be kept within their own eco-system to keep things fair.

We need a server browser and persistent servers that play a map rotation, not this quickmatch principle currently present in the game.

All in all, I will not pre-order or order the next BF at launch. Only when user reviews after launch are positive I will buy.

    You nailed it 100%. 👍

I would welcome the return of the Premium Pass, worth every penny imho.

I play with crossplay off PC.

@RanzigeRidder2 I think not preordering is wise but also dangerous to listen to reviews. I would have missed 2 years of fun on BF2042 if listening to people on youtube. This game was solid on PlayStation from the beginning.
Too many people can be influenced easily. Especially the young minds. Friend's opinions are more important than their own.

@JOGAGATYAWith user reviews I'm not referring to the biased opinions of YouTubers, especially not those who are part of the EA Creator network. And there's others who build their channel around constant being negative, I take their opinion with a grain of salt too.
I always check reviews from multiple sources, for example via Metacritic.

@JOGAGATYAIt seems like nearly every YouTuber gets on the same trend. For example last week it was “The Finals”, which is a pretty solid game to be fair, but it’s definitely not for everyone. They’re all acting like it’s reinventing shooters or something.

The esports aspect of it will likely kill it off pretty quickly in my opinion. It has a lot of neat ideas, but there’s too much going on. Once all the streamer and the sweatiest of try-hards get a feel for it, they’ll just dominate every match. Idk about you guys, but I could care less then ever about being competitive or esports.

I base all my buying decisions on the beta. I consider it to represent how the final game will play.

There's also Xbox Game Pass and EA Play subscriptions you can buy for a month to rent games before buying them.

I'm a big game rental fan. I remember when there used to be movie and game rental stores on street corners. I've rented tons of video games and movies over the years. 🙂

Try before you buy. You could also do that with electronics back in the day. Rent to own, lol. I don't even know if they still do that.

That's true! I remember renting the Sega Saturn game console from Blockbuster Video. I would never rent to own though due to high interest rates. I only rent something long enough to figure out if I want to buy it.

@OskooI_007 I remember that fondly too. I think I bought my PS2 second hand or ex-rental from Blockbuster.
  • Without a shadow of doubt, the worst Battlefield I have experienced. Hard-line is different as it was a off-shoot, not mainstream Battlefield.  Graphically there's nothing bad about the 2042, but it is just everything under the hood, poor design choices, extreme lack of content. 2+ years in and only 5 new maps! awful maps, a revision of destruction, which was a standout feature of the game! It pales in comparison to heavyweights like Bad Company 2, BF3 and 4

All this talk of Battlefield is back is youtuber shill propaganda!
