Re: Battlefield 2042 Linux & Steam Deck EAC support
Well, looks like now is an appropriate time to bring this back up 🙂
While its fully understandable to not have a dedicated linux version or support team for this game, there's definitely a few points to be made...
BF4, BF1, BFV, all work wonderfully via wine/proton so unless there were some massive engine related changes that might impact the solid compatibility we've seen in previous titles, the only thing that might hold this game back from running on linux is whether or not EA/DICE choose to simply enable Wine/Proton support which Epic was kind enough to build into this product. I'd love to hear back from EA/DICE on this in some sort of official capacity as well are a lot of other linux gamers and people looking to become early adopters of the steam deck.
If this isn't enabled for the beta I'll unfortunately have to cancel my pre-order and just pout while I hope for EA/DICE to enable this feature so I can purchase this game.
I know, I know, some of you will probably be in the "just install windows" camp, this is an option but I'd only use it as an absolute last resort in this case.
