Re: Battlefield Core Feedback - Maps - Feedback Thread
My main feedback for maps is to add tunnels... or just indoor routes between major points, not right up to the flag, but between the general areas (like the tunnel under the runway on Orbital, or the sewer tunnels into the base on Renewal) for a few suggestions:
- Tie together the very underused tunnels under Kaleidoscope (could go full operation metro under there), could even link them to the basements of some buildings too.
- Stick some tunnels through the hill on Manifest, perhaps with an elevator/stairs up to the observatory.
- Put some road tunnels under the sand in Hourglass, like the few that already exist, but providing more useful routes across the map, or at least have more raised highways to hide under.
- Could even put some caves into the ice cliffs on Breakaway as an infantry only way of scaling the cliffs.
I feel these sorts of additions could really help out the maps without too much reworking (and you could probably come up with some other places a tactical tunnel would help funnel infantry between points I'm sure!)... one thing to remember is multiple routes, or branches, otherwise they could become too easy to camp, but that could be decided on a case by case basis.
Another low-hanging fruit to aid map traversal would be to split the MAV and Hind/Condor out of the same group as attack vehicles... too often are these vital spawn vehicles blocked by someone camping in an MBT or Nightbird. (Oh you might want to let players spawn on these when they are full too - like in previous BF games where you just appear outside, so they aren't blocked if they are full)
A last stretch suggestion that could aid map traversal by allowing people into vehicles more regularly, which would probably require very little extra UI and maybe a tiny bit of extra code would be to add a queue system for vehicles, one that you can enter on an unavailable vehicle, and will be notified when the vehicle is available with a certain amount of time to either deploy the vehicle or pass it to the next person in the queue (potentially keeping your place in the queue if you pass)... such a thing could get people into vehicles and getting across the map more readily (not to mention using the airdrop mechanic more, and not having to camp on the vehicle spawn screen repeatedly clicking on a vehicle to be the first to spawn it when its available again!)
Hope these are some useful ideas 🙂
