Re: Battlefield series begins up-hill battle

I honestly don’t understand how they make these decisions.

To be making a new game straight up after bf2042 is really weird. Especially without providing some sort of context or narrative for fans.

BF2042 should have been the foundation, what with portal and a new engine. and any new game should be adding too not replacing any existing strategic approach to growing a fan base and platform of bF games.

I’ll be interested to hear from official channels how they intend to place any new game within the context of what they currently done with bf2042 and their BF Universe.

If you look at bf4/1/hardline. The in game menu brought those elements together in the game selection menu.

And I presume that their original intention for platoons was to also carry over large clans into future games.

Yet bf2042 doesn’t have any features for large clans, and in fact obnoxiously works against clans and groups from playing together. A misguide and utterly bizarre approach to a BF game.

So how on earth will they marry bf2042 with a new independent game?

What can we expect to be the common link between them? In features, clan management, stats, etc. sure have an independent story line and character selection/team make up for a different type of game, but if your trying to build a battlefield universe they should be bringing together all the other elements out aide of the game too.

imagine running a clan of a 100 or so people, and simply being able to bring players across between games.

imagine if some future games you could carry over your characters? Stats and achievements?

imagine building/using an engine that uses the same code base for clan/stats/ui/movement (as they do with portal) for all future games. Of course with custom skins and aesthetics but principally as well QA’d and tested back end.

imagine from a business perspective being able to carry over your fan base and naturally evolve them into future releases.

It doesn’t take a genius to think this through, so honestly I’m baffled as to the decisions that were made to make BF2042 so tragically *.

I also have reservations about the game engine itself. If you watch that video that was knocking around a couple of months ago comparing old maps on the new engine in portal to the original games the physics/physics destruction is nowhere as good.

Now that could be due to the devs not being comfortable with the new engine but given their current debacle I’m not so sure.

Basically no more pre-order for me and that’s all on Dice/EA
