Though I do understand your disappointment to not being able to play BF2042 on your PS4 together with your PC friends, then in all honesty, then that type of CrossPlay was never promised to be possible in this game.
Only new-gen consoles are able to do this, and also the only thing which EA promised in their marketing of this game and listed in the specs for each license type they sell of it.
