Re: Bring 'Assist Count as Kill' Back to BF2042

@ISylarI Allow assist to count and get rid of KD Ratio. Getting rid of KD would encourage more players to play the objective.

@SleepyWeasel68They tried that with the rollout of 2042 by Dice. We (rightly) complained. KD is a part of a game. It should not be the only thing, but it’s a thing. If you look at the scoreboard, you can see that it provides triple rewards for flag caps, double for revives, and single points for kills and assists. PTFO does provide more scoring for it than killing enemy does. I like to know my KD though as it’s still representative of balance. My goal is to kill more than I die while playing objectives. Maybe not lots more, but at least balanced KD makes me think I’m contributing to the team. I agree with the OP that assists should count as kill if you did more damage, they’re worth the same points on the scoreboard though so it doesn’t matter in that regard.

@ATFGunr I didn’t miss the scoreboard at all. I’ve seen a lot of guys running around killing everyone and they still lost because their team sucked and wouldn’t cap points.

@SleepyWeasel68Yeah it happens, but kills still drains tickets and is part of the scoring system.

Most people that die a lot, still gets frustrated even without the scoreboard.

And not having KD in a FPS-game seems weird.

I don't understand why you want to be rewarded with a kill for failing to actually get the kill.

Kill assists make sense, but pretending your assistance is a kill doesn't make sense.

@Tank2042Man The question is, who is assisting who. The guy that made the first 99% damage, or the one that made the last 1%.

If no one would have interfered and stole your kill you would have it. You used the ammo. You got the hits and you get nothing but a bit of xp from a lame assist. It used to be that if you got even 1 point of damage it would count as 1xp per point and if you got over 75% of the damage it would count as kill toward the progression of your weapon and your statistics. This is why snipers and shotguns take extra long to max out.  "Boom" 75%+ dmg and before you can get another shot off "Assist!" pops up..... yay.
