Two things:
1. I believe they're adding more specialists so I don't believe we'll be locked into playing as just Maria. Same with the other Specialists. I think their will be variety.
2. This whole customization thing just has me shaking my head. I get why EA wants it (for cash) and people like it but seriously.....it's a first person game. You rarely see the uniforms in 3rd person mode like you do in Fortnite. Customization means nothing to me.

@TickTack121like you ignore facts.
Like in BF2042 the classes Assault, Engineer, Recon and Support exist.
Specialist are sub-classes that we have had in past BF as traits since BF2142.No, they are Not and it is also Not True, although you are repeating this all the Time.
Weapons previously locked to classes and sometimes even factions, Now all restrictions are gone.
Gadgets previously locked to classes and restricted combinations, Now all restrictions are gone, they are only Limited to some visual apppearance.
This specialists have absolutely nothing in common with the Previous system. How can you ignore that? It is also not sub-classes, it is just the specialists with their Unique perks.

Let me get this right.....
People don't want to play as a 'specialist' that has a Medic gadget and trait, instead they want to 'specialise' as a Medic that has a Medic gadget and perks?
Have I got this correct?
Now customisation, after BF1, people wanted more customisation but BFV was to much or the 'wrong kind' but BF2042 is to little, to much AND the wrong kind all at the same time, at least that's how it feels here......
I like this one best I think, it's not that I don't want to play as a woman, I just want to be able to choose to play as a man all the time, it's called 'equality. One assumes therefore, that if that choice is not available, 50% of all specialists should be wimmin correct?

@BtheReaper49 This is my thinking too - we're bound to get more medic specialists as 2042 progresses, same as with the other ones.
And I reckon point #2 is why we seem to be getting third person takedowns. People will want to look fancy while they shank folks. - SirBobdk4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66
I think it's more about all weapons now being available to all specialists.
Not sure if that is a good idea, but that's just my opinion.
Whether it is called classes or specialists is probably less important.

Oh look a Class
Nothing like we had in the past.
@DingoKillr I dont want to be unfriendly, because i have to Repeat myself again. So i will say it once again and Stop that Conversation After this.
This is Not the same. The medic in BFV was Not able to Select every Gadget and Weapon in the Game. There were Weapon and Gadget restrictions, now there are no restrictions at all.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@SirBobdk Oh, I agree on the weapons and gadgets aspect, I have the same concerns and have had them since it was first announced.
All class weapons and possibly some/all other gadgets may still be a 'thing', even with traditional classes.
Fact remains though, if I want to play Medic/Support/Engineer/Recon, I will pick a specialist that has the Medic/Support/Engineer/Recon gadget/trait that I want to utilise in much the same way I would choose the Medic/Support/Engineer/Recon class (gender being irrelevant).

Interesting first you tell me I am wrong about classes and traits, now you want to finish the conversation.
There are still gadget restriction, just not as many as before.

Are we really getting more medic specialists?
Maria Falck is classified as support class, I more likely expect some other support class specialists that maybe hack doors on distance and resupply maybe specialist gadgets.
Why have a second medic centered support specialist?
- SirBobdk4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66
If I understand it corretct we can get a situation where every specialists are using the same weapons. For example, sniper rifle + stinger or RPG. I'm unsure of the outcome from too many free choices and the impact on balance.

Leaks are saying that one specialist will be a medic and Support character aswell. Something about reviving, ammo and Armor.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@SirBobdk That would be my understanding as well although I think the likelihood of that happening would be rare.
Of greater concern to me is the potential scarcity of 'support' gadgets such as ammo, health, repairs or spotting in favour of lethal gadgets as players chase KD. - @SirBobdk Then they will need someone outside the squad to heal and supply ammo.

Yesterday some Tank Driver tried to tell everyone in the chat how Good he is, Sadly he Destroyer the whole Game for the Team, because he Farmed from the Base.
But i guess we wont have much teamplay, if not playing with friends.

Everyone plays the same class and ask in the chat why no one plays medic / support🤔 - UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend
So even now people still cannot appreciate the liberation of the weapons from the class system?
The 2042 medic lady is even pretty cool imho, a much better take than BFV's poster cyborg.

Everyone plays the same class and ask in the chat why no one plays medic / support🤔In past games many would not switch due to ranking up their gun or that special gadget. Now it may not be much of an issue.
I am hoping that we get an universal heal gadget that would allow my squad to be all wingsuits.

@kregora I can just see Dice "recycling" some roles to handle things like different genders. It was such a hot topic in BFV that I doubt they'd want a repeat. Remains to be seen of course.

Indeed, one of my most usual peeve in BF games so far is having the wrong weapon for the situation because I needed to use a particular gadget that belongs to that class (usually the spotting gadgets or the repair tool)
That or because I needed to level a gun but the class did not worked well for the situation.
This is why what 2042 is trying to do is a huge quality of life breakthrough for me.
If I have to be a cool granny to have that flexibility, so be it. (Even though grannies are not supposed to be that flexible due to age 😉 )

@UP_HawxxeyeI could prove you wrong but suspect such evidence would get me banned and possibly imprisoned in several countries.....😜
I do agree that all kit weapons and gadgets has some pro's especially in the way you mentioned but I still have concerns over the potential *.
if we can flip gadgets on the fly then lets go full tardy. Let us swap on the fly RPG and Igla. I will never have to worry about air or ground vehicles again. 4 in a squad we can lock down outside. Another squad can lock down inside a building with the doom shields and turrets. We no longer need to traverse the map any longer.

I am sure it can go wrong in one way or another. This is a DICE game after all, But just the prospect of combining recon gadgets with a proper full auto weapon like an assault rifle makes my mouth water a bit.

As a vehicle user this rather makes me worry. It was already a nightmare in BFV with Bazookas being all over the place. I fear the vehicles will feel like those in the enemy team there https://archive.org/details/Battlefield_Friends/BFFs+Season+3/S3E13+-+Spawn+Killing.mp4
