as far as I know - aim assist is no where near aim bot = cheat as you suggest. Not even sure if its any benefit at all. But one thing that is bad is this mix of worlds - console players and pc players on same. What you most likely die from and see and feel as aim assist is the lag and latency this game suffers big from - crossplay on. Crossplay off you dont see this but then you enter servers with lots of bots.

One thing that helped me a lot with lag / latency was to disable any AV running on your pc - that is exclude the whole bf2042 folder totally from anti virus. My gameplay improved a lot since this !
