Re: Dice aware of PC crashes

@EA_AticI'm not sure if they are doing some trial and error troubleshooting with disabling the "Dust Shield" headgear for Mackay. If they are, then you can let the team know that this isn't it.

After reading your post, I deleted my game cache, started game, loaded into a conquest game in portal, and immediately got the game freeze while it was loading the map.

    Hi @DigitalHype, no need to to do any troubleshooting at the moment and clearing cache will result in needing to replay each map again.

    Keep trying over the next few hours and let us know how it works out.

    I just installed the latest Nvidia Driver 526.47

    Gave it another try hoping it would work. Started playing BT, after 5 mins, it got frozen again...

    They believe a character skin is causing crashing problems just by it being in the game or equipped?

    This is a first for me, was it somehow corrupt only for PCs? New shaders or textures?

    @EA_Atic

    I wasn't asking about myself doing troubleshooting. I was saying that it seems like the team might be doing some trial-and-error testing by removing this skin. In other words, they might not be confident and suspected this skin could be the culprit. The point of my reply was to inform you that the problem remains even after removing that skin. So you can let the team know it didn't help. Although I'm certain they will figure that out soon as others report the problem remains.

    BTW, I'm aware of what clearing the game cache does. I don't typically do that. I only did it this time because I wanted to purge the cache of any potential residual bad data before testing to see if removing that skin had any effect.

    Shaders for consoles come precompiled in the patch download. PC shaders don't come precompiled in the patch download due to the multitude of different hardware configurations and must be compiled locally on each individual PC.

    That's why PCs stutter through the first map playthrough as the shaders are compiled on the CPU and cached to the SSD. Consoles don't stutter because their shaders come precompiled in the patch download.

    Consoles sharing the exact same hardware is what makes it possible for shaders to come precompiled.
