I love the game you guys. Please don't listen to the people who cry and always complain. Please give the devs some rest. The game is great and I never loved it more than ever. It's just awesome and amazing, Don't listen to the complains!!!
Honestly this is the smart thing to do regardless, specialist have been terribly received and 2042 will always be a failure of a game. The resources it would take to get this game into profitability would likely be too costly, not only would it cost devs a huge amount of time, but it is also time they cant use to develop something new.
That being said, that doesnt mean the game has no value, it serves as the perfect live test for any kind of new systems they want to test. EA is not going to give up the concept of specialists, because they are comparably much lower effort to monetize than actually having to produce content. But they have also learned that the bulk of the community rejects them. They will use 2042 to test how far they can push specialists without people complaining.
The focus has not really been on saving this game for some time as much as it is about saving the game as much as it is saving the next one.
