Re: Have at least one game in every mode running

Ok, today is a Saturday night, and there is no game going on in ANY MODE in North America! Seriously?

Master of Arms conquest: 20 people are waiting for the game to start, with 3-5 coming and going. Never reaches 32.

Conquest: 6 people are waiting for the game to start, with about 2-3 coming and going. Never reaches 16.

Flashback Breakthrough: 6 people are waiting for the game to start, with about 1-2 coming and going. Never reaches (what is the minimum in this mode?).

This one is weird. The mode description says "32 players", but in the "Arica Harbor" queue, it says "2/64, 16 to start". (see screenshot)

@EA_Atic Is it a bug? Should it be 2/32 and, like 8 to start?

Breakthrough: 2 people are waiting for the game to start, with about 1-2 coming and going. Never reaches 16.

And there is no reason to leave the game and start the same game mode again because you will be joined into the same game/queue anyway.

@YLD_fox What region of NA [east US, west US, canadian regions?] I wasn't playing last night but Friday evening the group I play (all eastern US) with was able to get into a match either immediately or in about 15 seconds.

I played late Saturday night and AOW would not start with many of the higher player count modes, so I switched to the 16 player breakthrough and the game started with a single player on the other side, and 8 of us on my side...and then I proceeded to get about a hundred easy kills with Crawford's turret on A.I. spawning in one spot.

I've seen the same thing happen late at night in conquest 128 mode once, the server glitched and started with only about 8 players. I ran the stealth heli and had 205 kills to only 2 deaths in one game.

Point being, I would assume Dice does not want to allow servers to start with A.I. as the A.I. are horrible at tactics, and thus easy to farm. Thus it is really easy to level up with a server full of A.I.

So until players become less sensitive to "level farming" in portal, etc...Dice is stuck between a rock and hard place.

My solution to Dice would be have a floating leveling system, that takes into consideration the number of A.I. at any one moment on any one server late at night. Thus instead of giving me 100% of leveling in a 205/2 game full of A.I. reduce my experience 50-75% to keep it fair.

If Dice had variable experience leveling, then they could start a game after a minute on a server that was only 10% full, instead of the 25 % full requirement currently in place.

Personally I'd be O.K. with no experience late at night when servers don't fill, as no experience and getting to player is better than no experience due to not being able to play...

Solutions exist...time to think outside the box...

@AnobixNA was dead between 1-4am, all official AOW modes. Even the 16 player had issues starting...

Portal is the solution when that happens, as those run 24/7 without requiring 25% fill rate before starting the matches...

  • @Anobix It was US west. As DeepSixxx confirmed, it started working again after around 4am

@DeepSixxxx I see your point about farming. To be honest, I don’t really care about XP/levels, and just wanted to play. It’s my relax time after a busy week))

Portal is an alternative in such cases indeed, but most of the time the Portal has only a handful of servers with a reasonable number of players and most of such servers will be either Ammo farming or Hardcore which I don’t enjoy.

Meanwhile literally millions of gamers are playing the new CoD game and the game has made over $1Bn in sales.  EA and DICE dropped the ball so badly with 2042.

They need to accept that the player count is still falling and reduce the number of real players needed to start a game, while still awarding full XP.  I typically see a spike in players at the start of a new Season, but it inevitably falls during the weeks that follow.

Trouble is, if they do this then they are admitting publicly that the player numbers are terrible and I don't see them wanting to do that.  So as ever, the paying gamer gets shafted by EA's arrogance.
