Re: How to Fix the Funky Movement in this game

I found the tweets.

So what do you guys think. Are the controller settings in this game affecting mouse aim. I personally think they are and it shouldn't be happening.

Like I said I've noticed this as far back as BF1, but it's gotten steadly worse with each new game release since then.

Either way, gamepad controller settings shouldn't affect mouse aim, but they do.

  • No idea about the controller settings but I know for sure that the mouse sensitivity numbers are not transferable from BFV to 2042. I've been using mouse-sensitivity.com for years to make sure my FPS games all feel the same for muscle memory and the numbers that I had to put into 2042s config file were very different to those that went into BFV and BF4.

For anyone confused by the "how to" or even the point of using a calculator to make a game feel the same as another game then it's worth checking out Stodeh's video below. Personally I've always gone for a 50cm/360 with a mouse DPI of 800 and after using the calculator at mouse-sensitivity.com BF2042 does feel very much like BFV for me now, I had to enter different numbers into the games config file as mentioned above so something isn't right if they reckon the numbers should be transferable from BFV.

The video doesn't completely explain why you need a calculator that takes the games FOV into account (you can actually find all the in depth info on the website) but it does touch on the fact that you do need a calculator and shows you a little bit about how to use it:

I'll give your controller settings a go and see if they make my mouse feel any different because I hate mouse acceleration and deceleration, 1:1 raw input is the way forward.

Side note, I read somewhere on the forums here the other day that the Raw Mouse Input slider in the 2042 menu is actually backwards, Off = On and On = Off, not had chance to test it yet myself but if that's true then even though you think it's turned on its actually turned off so will be giving you some acceleration and deceleration.

That was me, but I may have been wrong. I started editing the BF2042 settings file PROFSAVE_profile and found some interesting things.

    1. The sliders in the settings menu are glitched. If you use the mouse to slide them they'll give wierd values like 49.847363 instead of 50. So it's bugged.
    2. You can adjust audio settings to use higher quality audio and play more than 20 sounds at the same time. Audio Quality 2 sounds much better than the default Audio Quality 1.
    3. PROFSAVE_profile has to be write protected, otherwise most manual edits will be overwritten when the in-game options menu is opened.

    I actually just Downloaded BFV.

Started the game. played a little, exit the game. then open both the PROFSAVE_profile (Battlefield 2042) and PROFSAVE_profile_synced (Battlefield V) looked for all input settings. made sure they matched code wise (they Mostly do!)

Then i just copy every GstInput Line from BFV and replaced every GstInput in BF2042. I Finally had some BFV Aim Feeling back! it felt so accelerated i could not aim at all. felt so unnatural.

Only thing i had to do was tweaking the GstInput.MouseSensitivity line (on PC) and now it feels Similar if not Exactly the same as BFV. (for vehicles same thing. tweak it till it feels right)

IF you are going to try this yourself MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ENTIRE BF2042 Settings folder and place them somewhere safe.

then you can always just put it back if something goes wrong. Again i made sure Every line of code was the same at the beginning :GstInput. Select everything and then replace them in Battlefield 2042 profile.

since FOV is somewhat different you need to tweak it a bit. i had to adjust my main sens by dubble and tweaked the zoom aim to compensate. (Unified aim is off!). it hasn't overwritten the profile to default yet. and it feels much better then the original settings ! Kept adjusting the aim sens till it felt right to me. when done. i copied  the newly edited file of PROSAFE to a safe place. if it reverts back i can just simply copy it over.

maybe this is some handy info.

    Take care!
