Didn't go anywhere.....

Yeah that is a real shame @Trokey66 ,

It's like EA have completely missed the train on the amazing value of nurturing your player community through social media and also using player created content as a commercial cashcow, which it literally is if endorsed and run as you suggested!

  • @CyberDyme They have absolutely no need for this type of system. They will make billions anyway. This isn't GTA5 online with purchasable currency. The emblem system was removed because a sect of the player base couldn't help but have their swastikas and * emblems. So it had to go. Also, what opportunity are they missing with regards to social media?

Of course they do @Threedog1421  !

No sane leadership team or shareholder group would allow money being left on the table for others to harvest.  Clan and player emblems could easily be submitted for approval for a fixed fee, which EA could have a few low paid employees to handle.

And its basic business understanding to maximize your profit that you want to keep your customers close and in your own control.  Instead they are now relegated to Discord, Reddit, Twitch etc for their community exchanges and beyond EA's reach for monetizing it...

@CyberDyme When we could make player generated emblems in BF4 it become a nightmare for TOS enforcement because there's a large number of players who intentionally create emblems that violate the terms of service  (hate symbols, sex and narcotics imagery being the most common) so EA did what any company would and removed that functionality.  Personally I'd rather TOS focus on player reports than emblem enforcement.

EA did however support player communities via direct support in other areas like supporting events and giveaways.

Yes all good and agreed upon @ragnarok013 !

We all observed the immature players showing up with those deplorable emblems not conforming with the otherwise generous TOS.  And as running a server, i got very frequent angry players who wanted me to get rid of such immature players who showed up with problematic emblems attached...

What @trokey and I suggested was that EA could simply just have a standard box of available emblems for everybody to choose from.  But on top, also have the options for clans and other players to submit UGC emblem for EA approval.  This for a transactional fee, of course.  And upon approval, then the players/clans could equip their own homemade emblem to their soldiers.  That I think could have been a nice gesture, and definitely something that many many players/clans would have liked/appreciated.

@CyberDyme As a community/event admin I think that system would be excellent and a solid compromise for communities if the emblem could not be changed without another EA review.

    Exactly @ragnarok013 ,

It can 'technically easily' be implemented by EA adding an encrypted digital watermark into the emblem file.  So any editing of the graphic afterwards will make it obsolete as aka the checksum bits of the graphic no longer matches the issued digital watermark that the EA emblem handlers generated and added to the digital file when issuing the approval.  The EA tech team would know well how to enable such function.

But we would of course need to have some (or all) of the beloved Battlelog coming back then?  😎

    • To create emblems for approval.
    • To loadout our soldiers/specialists, so we wouldn't need to sit and fiddle with that, while in the gaming itself.
    • To setup/join clans.
    • To check our soldier's progress through the ranks.
    • To see the stats from last game round.
    • To plan what assignments we are still to embark on.
    • To study weapon and vehicle stats, and our progress to unlock accessories for them.
    • To check who we we have knifed the most of our friends!
    • Etc etc etc...  😃😃😃😃😃

@Threedog1421 Are we talking about the emblems still in use in BF4 in such creative and mature ways?

If so, i say Good Riddance!
