+1 on the Desert Combat mention. 

DC in its heyday - on a good community server - was peak battlefield. No other Battlefield has come close to recreating those feelings.  The infantry combat was atrocious even back then, but vehicle combat was just  *chef kiss* and I'm not even a vehicle player. Forget Zampella, give me Frank DeLise.

If I recall the Patriot and SA-3 stationary TV missiles also had a manual detonation ability when near a plane - would love to see DICE add that feature in BF2042.

Yea, for sure, those were the best Battlefiled days.  What I remember most, even though it was early stuff,  It would take a long time to fly around the map.  So what happened, did the maps get smaller, did the vehicles get SO much faster, or what?

Other gripes include:

Mounted guns on vehicles are less effective then, lets say, sub machine guns.

This can be so frustrating.

Generic sound at times, when  enemies are far away seems like the 3D audio positioning is not present.
