Funny reply when they already stated there wont be rentals. After DICE stated that, I dropped the idea of byying it. This is the 3. game they messed up in a row not listening to the community.

Please stop asking for servers we have to pay for ???   We are being given portal which is a free server solution..    And if we don't prove to DICE that we can make it work we will never be given a server solution again.   

The   procon servers of last gen titles is never coming back.   You have to get over that, never coming back.  I know it hurts because they were the good old days.  

But the communities out there are going to have to work with portal and prove to the board at EA,  not DICE,  but the people that dish out the money.  That the community will grow if you give them the tools to shape the game and that's what portal is.

And if we fail it will be the end of an era,  simple as that it's in our hands.  And boycotting, and paying and playing in games that have never offered and never will offer us any level of control only proves there case.

Finally found someone else who also understands and accepts the truth.

Servers you are forced to pay extra for would lead to a ton more people refusing to get the game at all than those who want to pay for private servers.

If they ever made it to where we had to pay extra each time to create our own Portal Server even with the AI Soldiers... I would refund my Ultimate Edition right then and there.

The servers will remain FREE and if anyone here doesn't like that than Too Bad! Feel free to  choose to stay with your paid only servers in Battlefield 3 and 4 until they are shut down.

I however will be playing on the FREE Servers I can create in Battlefield 2042 🙂

Surely if everyone shuts their mouth, dedicated servers will not come back.

I look back to the older days on the internet. When a man would defend someone's right to have an opinion, no matter if they agree with it or not.

How is asking for the ability to rent your own servers "going back to the good old days" or in any way infringe on the ability of people to enjoy hosted portal servers for free?

I'd get a gripe if the OP asked for "take away the free hosted servers and make them all rented", but i genuinely don't understand the thought process behind "NOOOO!" just because someone asked if it could be added.

Asking for the option of more granular control of a server does not equate time travel or asking for nostalgia's sake, it's simply a feature request, and for a fairly popular feature at that.

Simple way of testing the theory rather than bicker about who's right though, people can +1 Dipsy's post if they want it added and "me too" the OP, if enough accrues over time then there's your answer, nobody else bothers then i can understand Dice not wasting the effort.

Either way it won't impact those who want to play on their free servers.

Those paid for servers will probably out last bf 2042 if your not careful.

So you can't moderate/add badmin to these free servers? 

FREE servers. cheater comes in does what ever he wants. you sit there and have to deal, but hey you can report him because thats awesome right? maybe he will get the ban hammer in 3 months!

rented server. cheater comes in i ban him asap and the game continues on.

once again just give us the option, if people dont like rented servers then go play on the free ones, have fun with that.

some of use are just off with all the cross play and want to be able to play pc only

I stopped playing Battlfield due to hacker jumps on, server empties. Join new server, wait forever, get spot, hacker joins again. empties server.

if there's no admins, i won't play again.

Are you a Call of Duty player or something? The Portal will not allow a server to run without the host being present, meaning that you will have to be Online 24/7 in that server. 

A rented server can be maintained to by others, and clans has been created for that purpose alone, why else is Battlefield 4 still the biggest Battlefield game even at this time for? Because of people being able to rent their own servers! 

I rather pay $50 - $100 every month, or more to have options rather than restrictions.
