Re: Rush / Portal maps coming to All-Out Warfare in Season 1

Getting some additional maps in AOW will be nice, however, without a Server Browser, good luck getting into one with MM. 

These ARE good changes unfortunately without a server browser it's just gonna be more and more aggravation for an already irritated player base.

Maybe they are planning to surprise us and they will add in a server browser / persistent servers to AOW at the same time when they move the maps over. !

No we shouldn't be lowering our expectations and being ok with half-assed workarounds, we need a server browser AND persistent servers.

Way too much ground has been ceded in recent releases in regards to quality and quantity of content.

Yeah I agree, as you rightly say we don't need any workarounds we need BOTH to allow players to play the game the way they choose.

They did not say that we only get one map per season. But on the other hand they did not even say that we get AT LEAST one per season, so it is perfectly possible -- even though unlikely -- that we get one for S1, zero for S2, one for S3 and then again none for S4.

This would be the minimum, given that 'multiple' (aka 2) locations were promised and nothing more.

But they also said: "Portal remains an integral part of the game and we will continue to expand its tools, modes, and tweak player experience gains."

I am VERY worried about this I must confess as they did specify certain stuff we do not need at the moment but left out (by accident) the most important part that is new maps for Portal. We know they once said they wanted to bring new maps and if they are true to their word we should expect a few new maps for Portal with S1, but so far there was no concrete announcement for that one as well AFAIK.

I agree that this is the likely scenario. But neither have they any official statement as of yet, telling us that here will be at least one new map per season nor did they state the total number of maps they will bring. The only statement we have is 'multiple locations' -- which in Dice speak means two.

I'd even say that even one map per season would be absolutely unacceptable. Or that less than 4 maps after 8 months with no new content whatsoever is unacceptable.

But from a pure business point of view, this is the only thing that makes sense. They have already completely destroyed the franchise and the name 'Battlefield' for quite some time. Along with the trust of their fan base. Now as EA is looking for a company willing to buy them it would be insane to invest more than the bare minimum as they now will ONLY look at their books.

Before the announcement that EA wants to be bought there was at least the fact that stopping development now and making the fans even more angry would kill of any hope of selling the next title in the only state they are able to release games these days. So they had some incentive to pump in some money into BF2042 to at least bring the game into an acceptable state. But as things stand now, they don't have this incentive anymore. To the contrary, they have every incentive to kill off BF2042 as fast as possible.

So, expect the worst (maybe the forecast with 2 maps was not even too pessimistic), but my guess is that they had 4 maps ready at launch to release in S1 and now with the stopped development have split them up over 4 seasons, so we will indeed be getting 4 new maps.

I still wish they would add BF1 and BF2142 to portal 

This game is going to end up with a total of 11 original maps after 19 months.

That is borderline criminal.

Yep, can you imagine how bored players will be with the original 7 maps by that time, they are stale already, and adding one map per season will do basically nothing to refresh the game.

I honestly wouldn't expect it to be much different, I don't bother playing on any portal servers as they don't offer progression and such and there are so few /shrug

Maybe, if there wasn't a Portal DiceLA/Ripple Effect would have been able to bring the main game closer to expectations...

Yeah Portal has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment so far.

I had high hopes that it would be an important element of BF2042 but it hasn't panned out that way has it.?
