Re: Selling Xbox Series X, Moving Back To PC, It's Cheaper, Has More Features.

I've had the console for about 6 months, but honestly I play my weaker PC more. With the upcoming game costing $10 more than PC, it's an easy choice to just sell the console and purchase a new GPU.

Anyone else think it's odd that Battlefield 2042 is $10 more on new consoles?

I only roll with Playstation/s, but I didn't notice there was a price difference. Never rolled a game on a pc, but yea, it does seem a little 'off' that it's cheaper.

Well one things for sure, u could make ur money back selling it, and have a good amount to upgrade ur pc.

I tried to get into consoles again, but it's tough coming from PC. I just need to upgrade my GTX 1070 and my monitor and I should be good. The only issue I see is not being to find a good price on a GPU lol Prices crazy atm.

@Popa2capsWith AMD’s FSR soon to be released, I would highly recommend trying it out with your 1070, since 10 series NVIDIA GPUs are compatible. EA and the Frostbite engine are already listed as corporate adopters / partners with the technology, so it’s almost certainly going to be available for BF2042. I do, of course, wish you luck in getting a new GPU in the interim however!

As for the $10 price increase… I don’t really know.  Perhaps it’s to cover costs associated with Microsoft / Sony approval or certification for the game on the respective console?

Yeah that FSR looks good, I'm not the type of person who would enable that type of feature at all to be honest. I'm a diehard competitive gamer. A killer, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold blooded, clean, methodical and thorough (that's a Fifth Element quote lol).

I honestly go for frames per second over pretty anyday. Even though my GTX 1070 can handle nice textures in Apex Legends, I mostly keep everything off and/ or disabled.

I don't mind when games look like a potato, I can't stand when they run like one.

@Popa2caps Well that’s why you would love FSR. You get more frames at the same performance cost, with some varied amount of graphical degradation, depending on which mode you choose.

It is just something to look forward to until you can get the card you want…

Yeah, but the added artifacts would drive me crazy. I did watch the video from Digital Foundry, but it seems it's not the best for low latency gaming. I mostly always disable adaptive resolution type things for gaming, and add too much input latency.

Don't think I'm knocking your advice, I'm grateful you took your time to suggest it, just something I wouldn't honestly ever use for a first person shooter.

I'm sure a GTX 1070 8GB can play the upcoming Battlefield 2042 with little to no issues at native 2560 x 1440 above 90 FPS with some settings disabled till I find a GPU that I like, I'm in no rush.

@HowardYoung88 I passed on the PS4 Pro. My slim plays everything fine. I played Sackboy on it before I was blessed enough to get a PS5.

I heard the Pro is good, but not sure it's worth paying for it with PS5 out. They seem to be selling a lot of them, but they are in such high demand. Over 100 million PS4 users alone is going to overwhelm stock. You never know. Like I said I was blessed. My friend and I got online when a Best Buy drop happened. He looks and sees something in his cart...a PS5! It kept it in his cart after booting him the last time which seems to never happen. It typically clears the cart... Checkout! Checkout! Checkout! lol!!! He already had one, so he was helping me out.
  • @carsono311 I've been following it. FSR is pretty lossy, even Ultra Quality FSR is pretty janky looking as compared to native. But it will give a bit of a performance boost at a quality degradation. And definitely not as good as native rendoering. Also, this a tech company. The marketing spin on it going to be in full effect. Can't forget this will always be on a game-by-game basis. So if the implementation of FSR is janky the game will look janky.

@threedog1421 I know a good bit about it myself… I am confident BF2042 will support FSR and vice versa, which was your original speculation.

I'm moving from PC to console because I'm tired of playing against cheaters. I don't mind paying for PlayStation Plus. I view it as a paid anti-cheat service that actually works. It's unfortunate Xbox has no option to disable crossplay, otherwise Xbox Live could be a paid anti-cheat service also.

PC has consoles beat in everything else.

I havent read most of teh replies here because they are hugey long winded, but as far back as i can remember PC games have always been about 20 % cheaper than console games

  • I wouldn’t entertain any battlefield game on pc anymore!

if your not getting it on console your wasting your cash!

  • @emerson1975 There is truth to this unfortunately. BFV is so rampant with hackers and cheaters that JackFrags even jokingly said he was considering a move to consoles. He's had to put up with it a lot in Warzone too where it got out of control. Apex Legends had a hacker single handedly ruining ranked play. You don't get any of that mess on consoles.
