This thread is about skill-based matchmaking.
If any of you would like to discuss people mentioning their K/D or similar stuff, please make a separate thread.

I would say yes, skill based matchmaking is still in 2042.

Reading Freeman's explaination it sounds like DICE isn't trying to match good players together.
Maybe they're matching Stodeh players into weak squads to help them out. You never know. It's a fairly old post.
- UP_LordPlumber2 years agoSeasoned Ace@OskooI_007 This is what I've explained multiple time regarding SBMM in 2042.
It doesn't match you against GOOD players. It matches you against average players IN TRASH TEAMS.
This is why a lot of good players often find themselves miles ahead of their team in terms of points, captures, kills, you name it. Yet their team is being absolutely trashed with 500+ point difference by average players.
Its because the game expect that a handful of above average players can carry an entire team on their back and turn the tides of a match Would love to know how the algorithm works for 2042 matchmaking, because there are SO MANY variables.
The one players always refer to is - KD.
No. A brain-dead player can have a good KD, so that's literally not a factor at all.
What can you do in 2042?
Cap/defend objectives
Kill
Revive
Supply
Counter(based on specialists)
Various character abilities(spawn beacon etc.)
Vehicle play
Generally playing smart
But I think it's even more than that.
It's when, and why you do these things that matter.
It's a very complex scenario..
Really, I'd love some insight into it all.
BTW: I'd never wanna rely on Stodeh in my squad or team.. He doesn't give a *.. Doesn't really play the game as designed, like most of those of his ilk.
But, whatever..
Seems like a good skin, nonetheless.- Alethes2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Gibl3ts fully agree with you.
The thing about SBMM is under which assumptions it should be done. Is it 'good' players in a 'poor' side vs a similarly constructed side? Or is it good players on one side vs poor ones on the other. If the former then these above-average players will end up frustrated for carrying the match. If the latter then a match will be over in 5 mins. Another dicey one for devs to decide on.
The odds are always long that a match will be perfectly balanced. There often are top, above-average, average, below-average and poor players on a side. Key for enjoyment is how the gameplay gels these in the flux of the match.
The most satisfying matches for me are those epic ones where the tide waxes and wanes; at one time we're capping or holding a position the next we're under pressure from all sides. Top players will always know what to do and poor ones run around headlessly. It is what it is.
