Re: Split Consoles form PC's

They need to split it by input devices. The platforms are irrelevant.

MnK should be an option for consoles, which would enable crossplay and disable aim assist.

If PC is playing on controller, MNK is disabled.

  • I played with cross play turned off for a few matches and I’m not sure what it was but for me the game felt much smoother and balanced. I agree we should have console only cross play and let pc players do there own thing. The problem is with turning cross play off on ps5 is there isn’t enough players just now.

And therein lies the problem, while the player count remains at the current low levels we will never be able to turn off cross play, it's a vicious circle. ☹️

Looks like game developers are beginning to add aim assist for mouse and keyboard too

Wow, if they actually start doing that with Battlefield I'm out.

On a scale of 1 to 10 that's like a 99 for worst idea ever.

@Ironhead841 I’m kinda torn on this. Halo is unplayable as a mouse player. Controllers just don’t miss once they see you. The game didn’t run perfectly and the hit reg was not great either, especially for being an arena shooter with small teams. Using a mouse, if I miss a single shot by one pixel, I lose. With aim assist, the game sees hit boxes, not character models.

What is fair isn’t popular right now, and may never be again. Completely fair is no aim assist for anyone, but no crossplay. The next thing to try is tuning aim assist so that it’s balanced between the two inputs, but giving the edge to MnK. It should be that way because MnK is inherently more accurate. They should try to tune aa to get controllers close to a mouse, not surpassing it in accuracy. That’s where the problem is. If they want to give mouse players some assist, fine I guess, it’ll just clean up my aim a bit.

I’d rather aim assist not even exist on PC, but maybe this will free us up mentally a bit? I almost hate it, but I’m also kinda interested now. I reinstalled Halo to give it a try.

On another note, depending on the game, I performed basically the same using a xim or just a mouse in like Destiny 2. There’s billet magnetism for mouse players in D2, which felt fine actually. The problem with Destiny was the P2P that ruined PvP for me.

I will never be convinced that it's a good idea, PCs should never, EVER have any sort of aim-assist period, in a FPS shooter.

@Ironhead841 But they already do with crossplay and people on PC using controllers. I wish some indie devs would start making games without it, but here we are.

Like I said about Destiny 2, the bullet magnetism was fine in my opinion. I don't think any PC players using MnK that I knew had an issue with it either. The game was P2P, so pretty sure they implemented it partially due to that. This was before crossplay. After crossplay was introduced, all my friends that were still playing said the connections got substantially worse.

Did you watch that Level Cap video? 343 are basically testing slow down and a slight pull back onto target for mouse players. No rotational assist. It wasn't drastic at all and the one guy reacting to it on twitter or whatever was overreacting I thought.

If it's implemented correctly, I think it could possibly clean up some of the discrepancies we get with online gaming.

    Agreed @Ironhead841 ,

And also on consoles it should be kept to the absolute very minimum!

It should be encouraged that there is a steep learning curve to truly master various weapons in the game.

We do not come to Battlefield because we want to play a laser beam arcade shooter game with fantasy heroes.
