Re: Stucked at waiting for players to join screen

Hello  , Dear BF 2042

( Until Last week I could easily find a game in two munites in any time zone ) But these two days

My game is stucked at 'waiting for players to join' screen.  I can'T join any conguest or breakthrough ( maybe hazard zone too ) mode for two days.

Endless waiting for players to join screen always on the screen.

My country is Turkey  and I usually get 80 ping in european servers. ( by the way it is just in ea games 80 ping . In other games it is 50 )

It's frustrating that no one has explained on what happened to the servers and when it will be fixed, even though it's been the same issue for 48 hours.

If there is a problem just say it like ' game is close to sunday from friday ' we are just wasting our time in loading screen.

We are not paying this game for waiting  at the screen of ' waiting for players to join'

We have been pushing for a proper server browser / persistent servers like we had in previous Battlefields you can add your support on these threads :

  • Please just keep in mind that opening up the game to merge all global players into the same few servers is a dubious approach and if not done with sophistication and intelligence then its the final desperate stretch for a terminal diseased/doomed game.

I have all sympathy for the players that now here already after just 100 days can no longer find any live servers to play on.  But opening up for accessing across all regions is maybe easing up the pain from one issue with BF2042's dire strait, but at the same time then compounding others to further flare up.

The latency between players needs to stay within a reasonable low value or all the players will immediately experience devastating lag, rubberbanding screenplay and missing hit registration.  Some regions are OK to be merged with neighboring regions, but it will not work well if going beyond that.  Aka a European based server is ok to serve European and US based players.  But not Japanese or South America based players.

The latency should ideally never go above 80-100ms, but it can be acceptable up to around 160ms if otherwise the line quality is top and no variation on it either.  That is why multiplayer online shooter games does require a certain minimum number of players within a given geographic region to keep it "playable".  As soon as a FPS game is going below that threshold it is literally game over for that game in that region.

I am certain that our fellow gamers in aka South Africa, M.E. and ANZ have their opinions about this, as they are typically the first to experience it first hand when a game population is flaring out.  Likewise all the players that have experienced terrible gaming experience when placed into server with many far out of region players, as we had it at times in previous BF games like BF4.

So though I am very much positive to merge players across regions it has to be done with a latency threshold.  Otherwise the lagging result will further deteriorate the already crumbling player base of BF2042.
