Pretty much all the data on the disc is obsolete, even with a disc in the drive you are still essentially playing the digital version. 

The disc is only there for the console to validate you 'own' it.  Any performance benefit you are experiencing is almost certainly coincidental.

Also, are you sure you downloaded the PS5/XSX version? The store lets you download either that version or the PS4/XBone version if you bought digital.  The last gen version has their own servers and those players are generally terrible. If you downloaded the last gen version by mistake that could explain it.
