Re: The BSV is overpowered

Okay so the DM7:

  • 300ish rpm, semi-auto

  • 100 meter 3 shot kill range

BSV-M with highpower

  • 400ish rpm, full-auto
  • 100++ meter 3 shot kill range

What is that?

There's close combat ammo for the DM7 but then you'll only get a 40 meter 3 shot range, still a worse fire rate than BSV-M and it now drops off to 5 shots at 100 meters. With highpower you get infinite 3 shot range but now your fire rate is terrible and you get a 10 round magazine.

BSV-M gets much more effective close combat ammo that turns it into a high fire rate assault rifle and more importantly with highpower rounds it does everything the DM7 does and does it better. Not only is it simply a better DMR, but it also works as a close to mid range full-auto assault rifle.

Again, what the f

The balancing here is so laughably bad that the cynic in me believes it can only be intentional to entice people to play the game (since BSV-M is a battlepass reward). Even disregarding the BSV-M, the DM7 still sucks. It gets horribly outgunned at close range but it's not all that great at range to justify that. I might, maybe, use it over the VCAR but it's still bad.

    @Camocheese I agree, but at the same time, there will always be 'meta' weapons for any category unless you want them all to be skins with the same stat ranges.

    @Camocheese The problem is 90% of the encounters happen within 100m, even for vehicles, which is not very BF like.

    Without any significant range separation, DMRs and ARs really have limited value. DMRs are probably the worst outside of the BSV right now.

    The BSV basically becomes an SMG. The DM7 would need at least a burst fire to compete.

    The DM7 does feel a bit weak, but I still like using it for some reason. I think it could do with a bit of love.

  • @Anobix Yes, there are always meta weapons but the BSV-M basically makes the DM7 obsolete. BSV-M is just an upgrade over the gun. The K30 isn't an upgrade over the PBX even if the K30 is a much more effective gun overall in practice. The PBX still has better range and its clear that within the SMG category DICE has set some sort of line in which the SMGs should fall to. Before the BSV-M that line existed for the DMRs as well. They all fell within around the same ballpark, sort of. But now the BSV-M kinda exists in a realm of its own.

    The DM7 needs a fix somewhere. My Go-To in BFV was the M1 and I have always liked a nice 'heavy' rifle in all my BF games. I was really hoping the DM7 would be it but this gun just sucks. I can't seem to hit anything with it, and when I do, no real damage is being done. I'll use it for 2-3 matches and then be like, 'nah, can't do it' and switch to another gun. I come back to it after every patch hoping it is better, but it isn't. It's a shame.

    It should be called the DM7-A for all the assists I get with it. I get 10x more assists than kills because even headshots don't take players out.

    Well, yeah, the recoil is a bit weird on the DM7. The low fire rate results in awful time-to-kill. And it has terrible bloom when spammed. You can spray most full-auto weapons very accurately so it's odd that the DM7 (and VCAR) become terribly inaccurate when spammed. I like using semi-auto guns in Battlefields so I'm saddened that the semi-auto DMRs are poop in this game. The SVK is ok, I think.

  • Through the low time to  kill, DMRs  are not very important. You can  kill with K30 or any assault rifle nearly as effective on distance, as with the DMRs. I made my  1200 kills with the SVK, it was kind of ok, but with the  DM7 or VCAR...  don't know, can't kill anybody with them.  Something with the recoil is really  strange with these  weapons  and in close combar (or even  mid  range) they get outclassed by assault riffles or SMGs, because they have very high damage and laser accuracy.

    Exception is the BSV-M. Don't know what the design philosophy of this weapon was, but it had to be something like "Let's make a weapon, every clown can kill anyone". High damage, low recoil, suppressor and subsonic rounds, full auto mode and good rate of fire. What could go wrong! To unlock T1 was never that easy.

    In BF5, DMRs were in a good spot, but in BF2042, I would consider one only for very long range (SVK) or to unlock T1. I don't think, I will ever unlock T1 for DM7 or VCAR. They just suck too much.

    @Captain_Tachi The dm7 is amazing especially since it got buffed in the last 2 or 3 patches. Stick with standard ammo for it or high power at extreme range

    @Captain_Tachi I agree that something does feel off with DMRs. Like the first shot has too much spread. It never seems to go where I’m aiming, or it just doesn’t register. The hit reg with them feels abysmal. So for now I use full auto weapons pretty much exclusively.

    My problem with the BSV-M is that it’s too good for CQC. Its in a weird spot. Its not as good as the M5A3 when firing full auto at longer ranges, but it’s better than some of the SMG’s in close quarters. It can also be used as a DMR lol. Which I honestly don’t think anyone uses it for its primary purpose.

    @GrizzGolf I have mixed feelings
    On one side I want OP things to get back in line
    But the masteries do not get reduced to make up for the lost power.
