@Gan_Xodosbut smoke isnt hot, and smoke in military terms uses chemical additives that make the particulate thicker and absorb more thermal energy as a screen to a FLIR Device as opposed to naturally occurring smoke from a fire or remnants of an explosion etc etc etc. 

So in actuality - being someone who has used and currently still uses FLIR/IR/TI - in actual events - its correct.
