- ElliotLH4 years agoHero+@Daeyon-be It would be good if the tornado did serious damage, rather than just messing with the HUD and taking you for a spin, as it'd be something to be feared then. Like you said there's a lot more potential there.
- frekwalda14 years agoSeasoned Ace@ElliotLH But the new frostbite engine can not handle that much detail thats why no destruction in 2042.
- edgecrusherO04 years agoSeasoned Ace@ElliotLH Yeah, it's really underwhelming. Messes with the HUD but largely easy to avoid (even with these open maps), and they have 0 lasting impact on the battlefield. You'd imagine that there'd be a big change to the field after a tornado goes through with rubble everywhere and whatnot but...nah, map is basically the same : /
- ElliotLH4 years agoHero+@edgecrusherO0 I feel quite similar - it looks good but should be devastating. I flew a jet through it recently, to see what would happen, and it only did a little bit of damage to me.
- edgecrusherO04 years agoSeasoned Ace@ElliotLH That's...genuinely kinda hilarious. You'd think a big tornado would be ripping aircraft out of the sky or blowing them up as the debris smashes into it.
I'm still laughing about how much time they spent gushing over the weather effects during pre-launch and how technically amazing and impossible it all was - and I'm sure it was a big technical achievement behind the scenes - but from the player perspective it's incredibly lame. - ElliotLH4 years agoHero+@edgecrusherO0 It did feel like it should have destroyed the jet. Might be interesting to test helis as they're not as fast moving.
I guess it's something they could tweak but there's obviously bigger things to sort out first. - edgecrusherO04 years agoSeasoned Ace@ElliotLH Yeah, I'd be fine with them nixing weather effects entirely if they're too much work to maintain/improve, and focusing on the core game. Come back to them once the core game is in a good space (whatever year that finally is).
