Re: Where Are the New Maps We Were Promised by March???

@Nightflyer735

One could argue the decrease in playercount is due to lack of performance and major deviation from the "Battlefield Formula". Season 1 was supposed to start much earlier but they needed to focus on fixing other things so the roadmap gets thrown out the window and the scramble starts. It sucks, but focusing on a few things at a time is much faster (and safer) than trying to do it all at once

    Did they say March 2022 or just March? Based on the new Season schedule, if it starts in June, there will indeed be new maps in March.......2023.

    Also maps? Plural?

    As far as I can remember only 1 map was hinted at... considering this is delayed because of the lack of a well, a functional game, I doubt we'll be getting multiple maps when Season 1 starts ☹️

    What exactly has DICE said they're fixing which caused them to delay Season 1 until summer? Because I find it hard to believe a scoreboard pushed everything back that far. I also find it unlikely map player count pushed everything back because last-gen consoles already have 64 player versions of all the maps.

    It's starting to sound more like DICE is stalling and coming up with excuses for not release new content.

    Yeah I find it very hard to believe too. I mean a scoreboard....come on it's not exactly a new invention every BF has had one. !

    It looks like the reason for DICE's continued silence is down to the fact there is nothing to tell.

    @RayD_O1the continued silence is probably more related to some gag order after the "brutal expectations" guy messed up.

    Have you not noticed how even Florian went silent after that?

    Maybe Florian's not working on 2042 anymore. Maybe he got moved to the new Battlefield game DICE is making. If that's the case it would also explain his silence.

    Then again there's another DICE developer working on the new Battlefield title and he still tweets stuff, but only about older Battlefield titles. Excluding 2042, there seems to be some kind of gag order surrounding that game.

    @OskooI_007 Well that is very telling. EA doing everything it can to minimize their legally required deliverables before ditching BF2042.

    @OskooI_007 Ongoing, live effort to finish the busted, buggy, incomplete product they sold us.

    Man, for the potential that "live-service" has, it's sure resulted in getting largely incomplete games that are often so incomplete and partially baked they're abandoned.

    I wouldn't be surprised if 2042 gets Anthem'd.

    @OskooI_007 Didn't the "majority" of the Community say the maps suck and wanted them basically remade? And supposedly that is what they are working on? That would be a big undertaking and would take time. So maybe that is why S1 is pushed back, not because of the addition of a scoreboard.

  • @Chief2GFD When EA/DICE are the cause of the first two problems (original map designed for BR & a scoreboard meant for a hero shooter), it's a matter of course in the FPS industry to have map expansions out already (iirc, BF4 already had one out and the other weeks away from release by this point in its life-cycle). The issue that you are seeing is the game of damage control EA/DICE is having to do coupled with established release cycles in conjunction with minimum effort/allocation/support from EA. A wholly self-induced situation made worse by brutal expectations of decades long, established content expectations of a "live service" (again self-induced by EA).
