Re: Why is there still no Server Wide Chat?

@Prosak_the_Great All-Chat is intentionally missing as it'd be too toxic. It's not like the devs couldn't have put it in. Don't know how people struggle to understand this by now.

The game doesn't need it, and it certainly ain't essential at all. People should be focused on playing the game and communicating only with their squads/team, not constantly heckling the other team and having them do the same thing back (which is exactly what would always happen). You want that terrible experience then CoD's prox chat is for you.

    DICE didn't include a scoreboard at launch because they felt it was too toxic. At least I assume the decision to not include a scoreboard, all chat, and voice chat at launch revolved around toxicity.

    DICE eventually added voice chat which is the most toxic feature in all of online gaming. Text chat is way less toxic than voice chat so I have no idea why it's not included in the game.

    we can't swear because it's too toxic. we can't disable the chat filter because everyone's too toxic.

    we can't use a server browser because that'd be too toxic.

    but don't worry, the specialists swear in their vocal lines while we operate them to kill people.

    KILL = OK

    SWEAR = NO

    Conclusion: Being able to say to that enemy guy "nice shot!" is toxic. Kill your neighbors, don't talk to them.

    Because I refuse to accept that it is a problem

    All they have to do is to make it so people can opt out of the All-chat if they wish to. Maybe even keep it off as a default while letting us sign a consent to turn it on.

    Plus we have a powerful mute feature for all the junk typers

    The servers are a lot less lively now.

    I agree, that would be the best option allow us to opt into global chat and as you said if someone is being a goober just mute them.

    I would like to have global chat back just to be able to give a "LOL", "Nice Shot" or "GG" every now and again.

    The game most certainly needs all chat. For one everyone I play with misses saying "GG" at the end of the round. Second all chat is required to coordinate for team switching (or in 2042 leaving the server and rejoining a friend), or coordinating during an event for the entire server to see or do something. Just because something can be used for toxicity doesn't make it toxic nor does it mean that it was predominantly toxic.

  • Just have it off by default. Just like with team/squad chat, it is not like you have to subject yourself to it if you don't want to see it.

    The lack of it shows that this game was never intended to be a traditional BF title from the beginning. This is just another one of those legacy features.
