Looks like this issue was related to a widespread service outage and should now be resolved.
As the issue should no longer be affecting anyone I'm going to go ahead and close this thread off.
Have you tried logging out of EA app and then back in?
It seems EA is mostly down. Multiple games affected. Downdetector has a surge or reports. BTF V has the black-screen on join. About full year ago they, EA, had exactly the same problem. Everything down complete weekend, you know weekend, when people have the time to play a game...
This is separate of the usual issues of EA shutting down full servers and/or not starting a single server at all. (to follow up to claim there is "no demand" after they made it impossible for their customers to use the product they paid for)
