Re: Game continues to use 100% CPU since Season 3 update, now in Season 5

Older thread, I know, but in case people still have this problem:

Ryzen 5600x Nvidia 3070ti

I had 100% CPU Usage and low 50% GPU Usage an what helped were settings in nvidia driver.

Threaded optimisation allows the driver to offload certain GPU-related processing tasks as separate thread(s) on available CPU cores. Fine in GPU bound scenarios, but a nightmare when the CPU is your bottleneck (BF 2042).

In nvidia control panel turning off threaded optimisation (from auto) and setting gpu power management to prefer maximum performance (from normal) decreased cpu utilisation by approximately 20% and increased gpu utilisation by around 15%.

Considering I was hitting around high 100% on the cpu, the improvement is noticeable with less stutter and hitching and generally more consistent and higher frame rates.

This is interesting, I hadn't considered trying this... but that's because I'm also already maxing out a 3080 to try and get as many frames as I can in 1440p/2k. I have the game capped at 120fps to lower some of my hardware utilization... but if I'm already basically maxing out a 9900k and 3080, will turning threaded optimization off drop my frames even lower, since it will not find any GPU headroom with my 3080?

You just have to test it out.
