Hey @Micas99,
Do you happen to know if there's a specific filter that does this for you?
And do you mean one of the Freestyle filters by any chance? - Micas993 years agoNew TravelerIt looks like using any geforce experience filter will cause 2042 to eventually crash. The problem is the same with the Dead Space re-make. In that game, I started the game and turned the details filter on, and it immediately crashed the game. Now the game won't start (crashes on game load) unless I turn off the game filter option in geforce experience itself. The filter I'm referring to is the one where in a game you can press alt-F3 and it'll show a list of filters that can be applied to the game. It doesn't matter which filter is used, the result is the same. It seems no coincidence that both 2042 and dead space are EA games. They both have the problem. It should be very easy to reproduce the error on EA's side.PC specs:W11, 10700K, 32 GB, 4090, HDR turned on, but HDR off doesn't change anything.
Thanks for the reply. I've decided to just not use it at all. I'll just find another way to get the filter I want, and another option for shadowplay. Maybe Reshade or something.

Well done, Grasshopper. 🙂

This is such a weird problem. I installed nvidia driver 531.58, which was released yesterday. Doesn't look like it updates experience, which isn't surprising since it's a hot fix driver. I played a couple games against bots with the details filter on, graphics settings maxed, and it crashed. Turned off ray tracing and it stopped crashing. Thought I had a solution. Joined a game against other players and the game crashed after about a minute.
The "don't use it at all" advice is silly. The nvidia filters are actually pretty nice, and it's on EA and Nvidia to get it fixed so it doesn't crash 2042. I'd imagine that it would be very low priority so I'm not expecting a fix.
- @Micas99 I agree man. It never crashed before the Season 4 update.

Did some GoogleFU, and it seems Nvidia is aware of the issue, so it's on them to fix and not an issue with the 2042 per se.

@Micas99, awesome, thanks for sharing! Shared it with our team here as well.
This crashing has never happened before in the previous seasons and started since season 4, I use the sharpen filter on every game I play.
The game doesn't even get into the menu before it crashes. If I turn off the filter the game runs fine, but if I enable it, within a few mins/seconds the game crashes. RTX 4080 for reference.

This happens to myself as well every time i turn on any of the nvidia filters. This never used to happen until one of the last couple updates that came out to the game. I strongly believe 2042's anticheat is flagging the filters as a restricted third party software. I really truly would hope this issue gets resolved for this game because using these filters helps my eyes focus on the game better.

@Micas99, thank you... I see it now as well in the notes of the driver release.
I've updated my post. - Micas992 years agoNew Traveler
Sure thing. It's weird how Nvidia changed the language of the issue. Now it's "game stability can decrease". I did test it with a number of different filters and they all seem to crash the game once spawned into a match. It is possible to add some sharpening via the Nvidia control panel setting, image scaling. I use 40% and it looks less blurry.

@Micas99, yeah it looks to be a bit of an odd issue. Acheté day one, joué 40h puis abandonné. Je le relance aujourd'hui et je rencontre le même problème que vous avec les filtres, j'utilise aussi affiner sur gforce experience pour rendre plus net pfff...

I have a fix for the problem of filters crashing 2042. it's a simple fix, but I'm going to detail exactly how I figured this out. Use this method at your own risk, but the worst that could happen is that you would need to re-install the Nvidia driver.
I noticed that both BF 2042 and the Dead Space remake have the same problem with filters, that occurred at the same time. Someone posted a fix for the problem with Dead Space on steam. The fix is to import settings using Nvidia Profile Inspector.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1693980/discussions/0/3800526046831682887/ ^- link to the thread explaining the fix for Dead Space
What I did to fix 2042 is import that profile for 2042, and for a couple of weeks now there's been no crashes and the filters work fine. I've attached the profile.
What you'll want to do is get the profile import tool from github: https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/tag/2.4.0.4
Save the modified profile attached to my post.
Change the extension of the file name from "txt" to "nip".
Run Nvidia Profile Inspector, and in the 'profile' box, select Battlefield 2042.
To the right of that profile box, look for the green button that says "import user defined profiles" when you hover over it and select "import profile(s)".
Select the modified profile and and a dialog box will confirm it was imported. Then, in the upper right hand corner, click "apply changes", and you're good to go.
you are right...without a filter game is not crashing, I tried your fix and was playing for 15 minutes and game crashed...so I dont know what to do, I can say its better now but not completely fixed

Yeah, Nvidia appears to be looking into it still.
I found better solution...turn back image sharpenning on
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_is1jRo86VMno crashes at all since Experience filter is off
