Re: Please stop remote resetting the config and please make first AI match skippable

They only deleted my could save once and the game hasn't ran right since then. Are you PC or console?

Only had it one time. Had to go in and redo all my settings.  Very frustrating as I couldn't remember exactly what I had selected only that I was happy with them as they were...

@EA_Atic Hi nope no drop box or cloud storage in use

and if I’m right origin games are not using the steam cloud

also checked (3 times) my windows ssd, the game ssd and the HDD where the config is stored and there were no errors also zero fragmentation
so, it seems my hardware is fine

also, no overclocking, all runs on stock

so only things that comes to my mind is that the cache\config HHD is slower than the game ssd but imho this shouldn’t be a problem it

also, i gave up to report it was 5 of 8 days since the last patch

Hi @CountSero, if it keep resetting, something is blocking Origin or Steam from saving in its folders. So each time you start up its like new etc.

@EA_Atic no the file is getting a new time stamp on each start i checked this

i'm not shure but I think the origin thin client is the problem, depending on the system load andf if the client is fully loaded

at the moment I trying to use the original client, it seems than this problem is not occurring

@EA_Atic i have a little update for you

i used the standard origin client since Monday and had no problems

I tested the thin client troday and some issue returned
    - game starting time is much longer
    - on first start the connection to online service will not happen (the blue writing is not showing up and you see only the video loop in the background forever)
-one times the game started in window mode instead of full screen

So, it seems that the thin client is causing issues for me (and I think that this will also cause the config issues for me)

So I will use the standard clients, this works fine for me

@EA_Atic unfortunately, just some seconds ago i started up the game and my settings were rested again.

i need to mention that i started the game already twice today without any issue and restart of the system, so there were no new installs or upgrades to the system

I checked windows history and the last updates beside the security update of the MS Defender (which will be released daily and the last one was today, which I think should not influence Origin or BF2042 in anyways) where from 16 June 2022

So, I think this happens every time when DICE is tinkering with the backend\servers (I read some news that tomorrow will be a patch day) also the news banner on the start has changed again

So, I think there is some connection with my assumption about tinkering at the backend and the resetting of the config file.

Also, since I changed to the regular origin version instead of the thin client 2 weeks ago I had not one issue with resetting of the config file.

So now I’m more convinced that this problem is caused due to network issues or works on the backend\servers.

@EA_Atic still have sometimes random resets but now i found another way to reset the config file

I use tab very often to switch back and force between the game and my browser or e-mail client

When I do this sometimes the game don’t minimize it pops into a small window at this point something is going wrong ^^

If I click this window, it gets back to Fullscreen but on the next start the configs has forgotten the correct resolution and sometimes also the rest of the config (which is like starting the game for the first time)

Also, if the game is in such a state using Alt + F4 is a good chance to corrupt your cfg file

Also, this happened when I need to close the game mid game (like important RL things) or when I was in a loading sequence and was done for the day > so Alt + F4 seems a bad idea unfortunately I’m old school….

So, It seems to corrupt the config file when it gets checked or rewritten and you close the game (even if there are no changes made to the config!)

I will check if i find another normal way to reset the cfg 😉

    I hope this helps ^^
