Re: S6 Patch on Steam: Game takes you back to Steam when trying to play

Accepting as solution for visibility purposes only.

This thread is for Steam players only.

If you're playing directly via the EA app, please go to this thread.

Remember to please keep things separate!

Hi everyone,

In order for the teams to investigate the issue, we would like to ask you a couple of questions:

Read this first 👇

1. Are you seeing the EA anticheat splash screen fully loading up with a white bar? Or does it not fully load? (See image)

2. Please share an EA app Error Report ID with us and share the Error Reporter ID here in the thread.

👉 Using the EA Error Reporter in the EA app 👈

Possible workarounds:

1. Uninstall a program called "CryptoPro" if you have it installed.

I see that a lot of you have this software installed, which seems to be causing issues with Battlefield 2042 and EA anticheat.

2. Make sure that Battlefield 2042 and EA anticheat are excluded from any antivirus software and that it's not blocked by the Windows Exploit Protection or Control Flow guard (CFG).

Open your installed antivirus, antimalware, or firewall blocker and make an exclusion for Battlefield 2042.

In addition to that, turn of Control Flow guard (CFG) for Battlefield 2042 in Windows by following these steps:

  1. Open your PC Settings,
  2. Open Windows Security Settings,
  3. Click on "App & Browser control",
  4. Click on "Exploit protection settings",
  5. Click on "Program settings",
  6. Click on "Add program to customize",
  7. Click on "Choose exact file path",
  8. Navigate to where you have installed Battlefield 2042 and click on the 'BF2042.exe' file,
  9. Click on "Open",
  10. Scroll down to Control Flow guard (CFG),
  11. Click on "Override system settings",
  12. Make sure it's switched to the "Off" position,
  13. Click on "Apply".

Thanks to @LandoCaIrissiann for sharing these steps. 🙂

Once we have enough information and details, the teams can start their investigation into the issue.

Many thanks in advance!

And what i should to do if CryptoPro is part if my job and i can't delete it?🤨

  • Is there any way to play BF2042 without uninstalling CryptoPro? I use it for work

  • It's possible. Just use registry editor in CPO branch. This solution was earlier in this thread

  • @EA_Leeuw This does not work for the problem 99% of us are having. I have reinstalled windows, reinstalled the game, launched it from EA app and steam, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers, reinstalled EA Anti cheat, did this nonsense above that shouldnt be the problem we shouldnt have to change settings on our computers when the game worked last week just to get it to launch. you guys need to do your jobs and fix the game that we paid for that was trash for a year plus and finally feels good only to not be able to play because your patch broke everything.
  • Having the same issue as the original poster and others in this thread. Just started 2 days go when the new season update dropped. I've tried everything in this thread with no success. I submitted a detailed technical error report as well as a ticket and I honestly can't bring myself to jump through the hoops that your tech support people expect me to when CLEARLY there is no simple solution based on the feedback in this thread and others.

Just wanted to express my frustration and disappointment with the level of support displayed here. Clearly this issue is affecting many players and while I understand it could be complicated behind the scenes, it's disheartening to see an "accepted solution" stickied to the thread and radio silence towards all the players still experiencing this problem.

My game was working fine just a few days ago and I was having a blast. Now I'm doubting that I'll ever be able to play again after seeing users post that they've had this same issue since OCTOBER with no resolution.

I'm done spending my afternoons reinstalling the game, and messing with my computers security settings hoping some random combination of solutions works. Please just focus some attention on this issue and release an update to fix it.

  • FINALLY figured it out thanks to a user on the steam discussion page. I had to disable Windhawk in the task manager. * ridiculous.

@deaner797 Lol, I gave up all hopes regarding EA, it’s been 5 months since I can’t launch the game) The problem has still not been solved, the support just doesn’t care. My ticket has the status "unresolvable". In both threads on the forum (this one and for the EA app), support has not responded for a very long time. They don't care about the fans, those who spend thousands of hours in their games, buy battle passes and support them in difficult times when everyone has turned their backs on the game. I've been playing for less than a week with my purchased Season 6 Battle Pass...

    Still not playable, lol.

This is the third attempt to run this game in the last year. Still having trouble launching it. This is the worst gaming experience imaginable.

    Horrible.
    Disgusting.

A multi-million dollar company still continues with stupid backtracking on the official forums. It's a load of nonsense.
