CLEAN THE DNS VIA CMD

Will try this next time I see these errors.

  • This didn’t help me. What I’ve found is that often once you get this error- you’re done for the day. It just seems to work itself out. No amount of restarts will take care of it- only time. It really does seem like some sort of cloud-based data sync error. It just kinda resolves overnight and works again until it doesn’t. Def learned to just leave the game running if I plan on playing again though. Seems like every time I close it- that’s it.

-Edit- Tested this theory again today. Same exact thing happened. Just played for 2 hours with zero issues. Closed the game by clicking "Quit" from the main screen, and now I get the Persistence Data error and can't get back in. Kiiiiiiinda weeeeeirrrrrddd mannnnnn.

Ran a Traceroute to the server the .exe is attempting to connect to and get an average Round Trip of 15ms w/ 0% packet loss.

Also, don't think it's my internet.

And....any idea why I would be connecting to EU West servers when I'm East Coast US? This would probably explain why near the end of my gaming sessions my ping is just magically 250-300ms.

  • Same problem on my Xbox series S. It all started after last bf update

I have this exact problem. I played bf2042 for the first time since the horrendous beta. After installing, I played a few games and quit. Later that same day I try to get back in and I'm stuck in the connecting to online services screen with the eventual 'unable to load persistence data' error. This was a few days ago and i haven't been able to log in ever since.Thankfully I'm playing through gamepass/ea play. Imagine if I had purchased the game for full price. It's a shame. I heard the game has improved a lot. Feels like I might never play if this continues.

Some tracerts indicate insufficient peering between EAs CSP AS and customers ISP AS. And NO the customer isnt in charge to fix this. For these issues, companies got network engineers. Another root cause for connection issues could be a misconfiguration within CPSs/EAs geolocation DNS. Peering/routing and/or DNS issues are very likely the error, especially when VPN usage fixes the connection issue. So nothing the customer can do to fix it.

Yea- to reiterate and keep the thread alive (since we're getting ready to go into the 6th Season of the game and the issue still persists) I still, to this day, have to VPN to a different region prior to launching the game to be able to connect and actually play. It's pretty unfortunate to have to do that since using the VPN to game raises my ping from 2ms without VPN to 60-70ms with VPN. Especially unfortunate that this is literally the ONLY title of any game I own that has the issue. It's definitely not my home network as far as I can tell. Sucks to keep having this issue kicked down the road further and further every time. Makes it pretty difficult to justify spending any money in the future on new BF titles as well. I understand that most people in this forum are volunteers attempting to help- but I also know that EA/DICE employees tend to drop in as well.

We aren't asking for the world here- all we want is some open communication. Is the issue being looked into? Is it something we're just going to have to accept as the norm? It's a very basic thing that, as consumers, I feel like we are all entitled to. The entire lack of communication/transparency is exactly the same thing that caused drama/issues and friction between the Franchise and player base at the beginning of the launch, and is also a major cause of what used to be a massively loyal fanbase to greatly diminish. We miss all of what made the franchise great in the past- the core of what brought us here in the first place. If we're going to get a product that strays from that- fine, change is necessary for longevity- but geez, at least show us the decency and respect of making this a two-way thing when there are glaring issues.

Ibe had this ussue all day since 6 this morning. It's now 1300. What appeared to work for me just now, on the xbox was to delete the saved data under manage game. Restarted the game and boom it worked for me. Now whether it's coincidence for timing? I don't know.

First time seeing this, just got the error message. I had to reset my xbox, delete the game, reinstall and still not working.
